Dislexi sent me a hateful private message about "a lot" and "alot".

She is a very angry person with many issues.

I love this forum...it's where I gain my strength....ALOT!!!!!!!! (sorry, couldn't resist)

I wonder whether her username of dislexi is a clue about why she's so particular about spelling??

Good lord, good grief, good drama! :) lol...:)

This is a type of poster I just love to hate. One of those that forgets that while she is pointing her finger at someone there are 3 more pointing back at her! :)

I love this forum, it has been a good send for me. I can talk about things that no one else in my life understands. Good to know to consider the source, I was never smart enough to figure that out myself.....lol....

I won't be back so you don't have to worry about that but on my way out please consider this. I am shocked at the number of persons who have only been banded days giving advice to others. There is even advice from those who are not banded yet.

My Dr. required me to attend a seminar I remember a large man there intrupting the Dr. with questions that were or would be answered if he would just listen. He finished by anouncing to the Dr. and the room that he would be the first there to undergo the surgery because "after all I have folding money" (big laugh) After the Dr. left the room he advised us all to "hit the nearest buffet and eat all we could while we still can".

The point is, if soneone comes on to this forum with a question about living with the band, shouldn't it be answered by those who have learned through experience? Can advice like "I was banded 10 days ago and I can eat pizza" really be helpful? or "I consider the band a saftey net"? Just asking.....

Peace be with you, and here's wishing you all the happiness in life. Alexandra (dislexi)

Let me guess. You are an Obesty Help member?!:biggrin1:

Open forums are just that.......OPEN.

For those who post, they open themselves to the opinions and comments of those interested enough to post their replies. Both good and bad.

Personally, I have found this site invaluable both in information and support. Whether I post or just lurk, I enjoy reading and commenting where I feel I can help. I would like to believe that those who post a helpful comment, whether they are pre, newly post op or seasoned veterans, they are posting out of experience and a genuine desire to pass their information on. And if not, it's always a great place to socialize.

dislexi reminds me of an old post that was probably deleted because it got very heated........people like this are called "trolls". Always stirring up controversy and trouble in public forums.

Am I missing something here?? When you join a forum and you post a question, are you not supposed to expect answers???? And if the answers aren't what you want to hear, shouldn't you just figure it's not for you and quietly slip away?? What's the purpose in aggravating people as you stomp out the door?? :drama:

Well, just want to add my two cents as well. I really enjoy this forum. I am not banded yet, so I feel I've learned "alot" from other people's experiences. For medical advice, obviously I'd go to my doctor. For practical, everyday information, questions, recipes, or just good old support and mutual words of encouragement, it's a great place. It's also a nice feeling knowing that you're not going through a tough journey alone. On that note, I hope Dislexi finds what he/she is looking for. Sounds like an unhappy person to me.

Easy guys easy....Dislexi is....who she is. This is an open forum and she has an opinion. Her opinion apparently is that we suck! lol None the less she will move on to somewhere that will hopefully make her happy. This forum can be harsh and opinionated, serious and kind. Some of us look to it for advice or entertainment, I see posts on here that I feel are simply ridiculous and not even close to what should be suggested in my opinion. Lets remember that I am one of those bandsters that she is referring to. Someone that has been banded for a long time and albeit things change, I think that some remain the same as well.....I had someone correct me about something happened to ME....it was my experience..and they said it wasn't possible, it was something else. Each to their own I say....Dislexi I wish you the best....as I do everyone. POPT

I joined this message board the day after my visits with the doctors and you know every message board has diffrent people on it, and just as we do in our daily life, we have too choose what to let get under our skin and what to just shake our heads about. I have been finding wonderful advice, and no I dont think eating pizza is the right thing to do, if she does, she will pa for it. IT IS HER CHOICE> Not the doctors. And just becuase she is banded if it fails, she will have no one to blame but herself....as we all do.

We are all adults, let us not loose sight of the good this does for people....

We all have opinions....an the right to them

you are going to have many different opinions when you go to an open forum-that is why it is here. I had different opinions when I was wanting to get the band and now that I have had the band about 6 months now. Things change once you have the band and it is restrictive, I could eat more in the begining but now-I can not eat as much-it will change with fills, although I do not condone pizza after a week you can eat more at first.

OK I admit it I did come back to look and boy are some of you completely wrong about my point. I suppose it's the bane of the written word vs. just speaking. 1st of all, I think all forums are great. The only reason I found this is because of a referral. I belong to a closed forum moderated by the hospital where I had my surgery and the difference is night and day. It shocked me.

I have all of the overeating issues that anyone who has lapband surgery has. We could match stories about endless diets word for word. What shocked me and concerned me was in the few days, the slice I read of this forum seems to be about eating vs. losing weight.

I will admit that most of it came from one post that had to do with a person that was less than 2 weeks post op and asked if s/he could eat pizza. It's still here, you can look at it. Lots of posts about "go for it". I asked why one who had been through surgery would want to eat "crap like that" and gave my stratagies for ordering in and going to a pizza parlor. The deluge of replys had to do with "not feeling deprived" and particular scorn for "chicken and salad"

WTF? I thought the point was to lose weight, not to eat. In the other forum we share stratagies on how to cope when eating at home with the family, preparing meals for others and going to resturants, not how to continue bad habits without physical consequences. I believe this kind of advice is particularly dangerous since apparantly this a place for those who have been newly banded or are considering the surgery. That's all.

I am so happy I had the surgery. My "official" weight loss is 37lbs since December. I say official since I only weigh at the Drs ofc. I'm hoping/expecting next Wed it will go over 40. Yes, I HAVE found what I am looking for. For those of you who missed my point...If the shoe DOES NOT fit DON'T wear it. Take your own advice and pass on posts that don't pertain to you.

Lexi, since when did losing weight NOT have to do with eating? Who are you to come in our forum badmouthing people who didn't ask for your 2 cents to begin with? If your private forum is so wonderful, why did you even get a referral to visit ours? And if you believe ours is night and day compared to yours, why did you even make any posts? Sounds like to me you should follow YOUR own advice, because it is obvious THE SHOE DOESN'T FIT!!

Peace Out

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
