I was always told that it means they are healing. Mine were itchy too and I took that as a good

sign. Just make sure to check them everyday to see that they are not infected, but I wouldn't

worry about it.

I have also been told the same and my mother is a nurse. My incisions itched also. Don't scratch the incision itself but around them. Also don't touch! Hands are filthy with bad bacteria! You don't want any infections! Good luck hon!

The glue they use for the incinsions and tape causes it also. Mine finally stopped itching. Dont scratch the incisions.

Usually the itching means that the skin is healing around the incision. Now in my case, mine itch so bad and I am very prone to topical yeast infections. I got topical yeast infections with four of the 7 incisions and those were the ones down lower on my belly. But those were beat red, had yellow puss, and smelt like yeast. Which I hope that doesn't happen to you. I would talk with your doctor if you think there is something wrong with the itchiness.

I had an allergic reaction to the dermabond. I was a mess. I went to urgent care and was put high dose steroids for a week. My incisions were welted and swollen and red. I itched so bad. The meds really helped. I also had a very bad allergic reaction first night in hospital. The doc doesn't know if it was the anesthesia, pain meds, or antibiotic given in the OR. My entire body itched. Even the inside of my nostrils !!! I've never had an allergic reaction to anything in my 47 years. And I've had many surgeries with dermabond and was fine.

So who knows. Feel better!

I'm day 9 and mine started itching today. I have bandaids on them to prevent rubbing on my clothes. I gently rub my stomach on the outside of my clothing to get some relief. It's totally normal....it's a sign of healing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
