What kind of job will it be? I haven't had the procedure yet so I'm not able to answer but details might help. Is it a desk job or will you be standing all day?

As long as your job isn't lifting or anything too physical you should be fine. 2 weeks post-op you shouldn't be in Water or lifting but everything else you should be fine to do.

I found standing for a long time made me hurt. Also, 2 weeks out I was still pretty tired. I don't think I could have handled work. I hope it's a desk job. Everyone is different though! Good luck. :-)

For the most part I'll be at a desk...and maybe a little walking to a few other offices, not too far. I have to drop my baby at daycare though (maybe I won't be able to pick her up physically?) and my kindergartner is fine...

It's still a totally new job though so I'm a bit worried. I guess I can see right after how I feel, if I need a few days to start (like start later) I hope it's not a big problem...not the best way to start a new job but it's how everything worked out I guess.

My Dr will not let me lift more than ten pounds until after forty days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
