AR40 88 Posted May 17, 2014 Way everyone I'm 12 days post op and my food plan says no caffeine . I've been doing fine in Decaf but am wondering when I can have it again. Mostly I miss my ice teas...

Jennifer2575 55 Posted May 17, 2014 My doc said no caffeine as it's potency in small pouch can cause very painful ulcers! So I do caffeine free ice teas- make my own with stevia and lemon. 2 Imanurse and BeagleLover reacted to this
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted May 17, 2014 (edited) Tea and coffee are diuretic and because of the small pouch at the beginning and the trouble of getting enough liquids in as it is. It is recommended that you keep clear. Once you have the Water drinking down you can afford to drink a tea or coffee..But still you have to be careful not too much.....I have 2 teas a day now..18 months out..but gt my 64 oz. of Water in too...... MIJourney 490 Posted May 18, 2014 All plans are different. I was told at my 6 month post-op appt that I could try caffeine and see how it went. Went fine for me.
AR40 88 Posted May 18, 2014 Ok all good suggestions. I think I'll ask my my doctor since I really don't have an appointment to see the NUT again . I don't think I really need the caffeine but I like green tea and that only comes caffeinated
peteyrulz 82 Posted May 18, 2014 AR40 I've been drinking Decaf green tea. I'm pretty sure Celestial Seasonings makes it, it should be at your grocer. It also comes in different flavors in my area, I like spearmint best. HTH
Ageekygal 38 Posted May 19, 2014 They are testing caffeine and coffee to see whether or not they affect appetite. Here is one (albeit small) blind study. I for one like that Decaf coffee may be good for me and does seem to be decreasing my appetite--a little. http://www.precisionnutrition.com/research-review-coffee-hunger
