Quick background: (question at the end)

Banded March 6. First fill 5 weeks later up to 4. No restriction at all and I could eat a lot of anything. Second fill this past Tuesday. Up to 5. Did one day of liquid followed by one day of mushy food. Thursday night and all day Friday ate normal food but could really tell a difference. Full after 1 cup. No problems. Yea! Then came last night. I ate a deviled egg. Chewed it like I should have but probably didn't wait long enough between swallows. Got stuck for quite a while and finally ended up getting sick. Took a drink of Water about five minutes later and got sick on that as well. After that, I didn't drink/eat anything else the rest of the night until this morning at about 9:30 a.m. I ate 3 bites of cottage cheese. I chewed all of them well and waited to swallow. Then I had another sticking issue and ended up getting sick again. Last night was my fault. This morning I don't think I did anything wrong. Have I screwed something up? I'm going to wait a few hours before trying again, but I'm really not looking forward to it. Has anyone else had this issue?

ksc1965 I dont think you have done anything wrong maybe started to eat maybe a day too early. I only have 4 cc at 3 fills, so not too sure if that is what is going on, but if you chewed well and waited inbetween your bites, maybe you just need to go back to liquids for at least one more day...if by Monday you don't feel better, maybe call your doctor and see what he thinks...I sure hope you feel better soon and Congrats on Band Land!!! hope to hear from you soon.

First, eggs seem to be one of the foods that many of us find hard to tolerate in most any form. Seems like they're slippery consistency would allow them to just go through but that's just not the case. And, you may be slightly swollen from the fill which just exacerbated the problem.

Most all of us find eating in the mornings to be the most difficult meal of the day. Especially when our bands are optimally adjusted. In your case, the stuck episode just 12 hours before could have caused additional swelling.

Finally, it took me 9 months to figure out how small to eat, how big to chew and how slowly I needed to eat. You're just getting started and I too thought I was eating correctly but I wasn't.

You should be fine if you fall back on slider foods for a few days. But don't be surprised if you get tighter as the days go by? Some people don't feel the fill for up to 2 weeks.

Great advice. . Thank you both. Tomato Soup and a glass of milk went down just fine and got rid of my killer headache. Back on liquids for at least a few days.

Yes this is normal. I had the same problem... You just have to get used to actually having restriction now and what you can and can't eat.. Make sure you wait long enough between bites that is where it can get really uncomfortable...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
