I was only down about 2 pounds my first week but I'm now 11 days out and this morning I got on the scales and I've lost 8 pounds since surgery. We are so of the IV fluids and everything for a while it takes a while for all that to get out of your system plus your body is in conservation mode just went through a major ordeal so your body wants to protect itself it'll come off.

Totally. In the hospital they pump so much IV Fluid into you. I only lost 2lbs my first week as I gained 8 in the hospital.

Post-op, I weighed four pounds more than when I started. It took all of that first week to drop those 4, then during the second week my weight started to go down. Stalls happen, and they are as predictable as sunrise and sunset.

Congrats on your surgery! You're doing fine. Try not to torture yourself worrying about the number on the scale from day to day. Just weigh once a week on the same day at the same time. That's your best indicator of what your real weight loss is. Your priority now should be healing your body after this major surgery. And of course that is best done by getting your recommended Protein and fluids and carefully following your program, including "moving" your body to give it some exercise.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
