Hey Guys, Hope you guys are having a great day. I was wondering...Is it possible to loss 100 pounds in 4 months with the sleeve, diet and excerise? I got the surgery almost two months ago and down 35 pounds...I want to keep this up. Any suggestions or ideas?

First of all.. i am sorry to tell you this but numbers are not the issue here. Getting healthy and looking after yourself is more important then numbers on a scale. Your body is going through so many changes and will continue if you follow the program set out for you from your team.

100 lbs in 4 months. Unrealistic to be sure. Your body will take breaks and recoup from the changes you are doing to it. It is natures way of protecting itself. If you push by not eating properly your metabolism will grind to a halt again and you will be in trouble.

There is no time limit on losing weight, just like there was no time limit on gaining it. So what is the hurry. Enjoy each milestone and remember the rabbit does not always win...Sometimes slow and steady wins the race..Like the turtle...

Rj is right.... Everyone is different as well. I'm 12 weeks out and have lost 64 lbs

I'm 3 months and have lost 62 lbs. It fell off at first and has slowed doesn. Every time I have a stall I notice that my shape has changed. Clothes fit different.

don't rush yourself. It's about being healthy.

I'm just over 2 months out and I have lost 50 pounds. But I work out at the gym 3 hours a day 6 days a week. Not everybody has that kind of time to dedicate to working out.

But with that said, I don't think 100 pounds in 4 months is realistic. I have noticed the weight lose has slowed. I have hit a stall that lasted for 2 weeks and I think I am just entering another stall, I've been at the same weight for 3 days now.

You just have to keep working and not focus on the pounds, it will all be good in the end as long as you keep working.

All great advice and right on the money. I think 100lbs in 4 months is unrealistic also (unless you have several 100s to lose) just because of all the changes your body goes through (stalls, weight redistributions, etc.) that you can't speed up no matter how much exercise or diet restriction you do because your body will fight back as some have mentioned. I had lost about 65 lbs. at 4 mos. post-op , but it did not come off evenly at 15 lbs/month. More like 22-26/ 10-12 / 16-20 / 10-15. Don't worry, it will come off. Relax and enjoy! Good luck :)

I agree with RJ 100%. I was sleeved in early December and of course at first the weight came off quickly than it tapered off..had a few stalls (in fact I've been in a stall for almost 3 weeks now), however I feel great! I've lost a total of 65lbs right now and my goal is to lose another 38lbs however if that doesn't happen than I will be alright because I'm healthier and feel terrific and LOVE the way my new clothes are fitting me.

I was exercising about 5 days a week than we took the spring break vacation and lost my mojo however plan on getting back to the gym tomorrow morning! I fast walk 30 minutes and do some weight machines and it really does feel better!

Hope this helps? Just think healthy, the rest will follow.

Yes you can lose 100 in 4mos, easily, depending on the plan you are on. Which varies from every doctor. But personally, I was down 100 under 4mos.

But I have been on a major stall for almost 4 weeks. So I lost it very quickly, and now I might lost a lb here or there, but then gain 2 or 3. It fluctuates a lot.

I think it's easier for men to do 100lbs in four months than women. You guys just lose faster. I consider myself a pretty fast loser for a woman and I am just under six months out and closing in on 100 (94lbs.).

All the people telling you that is unrealistic are not being honest. It really depends on what your stats are though.

I've lost 125lbs in 5 months.

Rome was not built in a day. RJ is right - enjoy the journey and what you learn about yourself along the way. The scale does not tell the entire story.

I agree with those that say it's certainly possible, but with the caveat that it depends on your starting stats, post-op care plan, and personal body/metabolism/adjustment. As long as you are doing what you should, it will happen, just don't push it.

Mine has been semi-erratic, but still plenty of progress. When I don't lose as much in a given week, I tend to still notice a change in a particular shape of a random body part somewhere. I've tracked every Sunday since surgery, with the exception of the 1st week post-op, and when I was on a cruise. (I still lost a tad on the cruise, because despite splurging on some bread pudding and a few other items, I ensured that I still focused on my Protein the majority of the time).

For reference in case it may help you....

1/27 - 272

2/02 - none taken

2/09 - 250

2/15 - 243

2/23 - 238.8

3/2 - 233.6

3/9 - 230.0

3/16 - 225.9

3/23 - 220.6

3/30 - 215.8

4/06 - 215.4

4/13 - 213.6

4/20 - 212.4

4/27 - 210.6

5/4 - out of town

5/11 - 209.4

5/18 - 207.0

5/23 - 203.8 (I think that's what it was this morning).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
