I find most people are from the US, but I've saw people from Australia, Canada, and other places as well. Tonight a man in Pakistan asked a question, we're one big happy sleeve family!

Hi:)

Yes I've noticed majority are from overseas! My surgery is with DR Padovan.

I live up north and he comes up here so i am more comfortable with it long term!

Who are you going to? I did read that u have to crush tablets? That's online though not from a doctors mouth

My doc will be Watson who operates at Hollywood and Murdoch. From what i have found out (only by my investigating i might add) i can get some of my tabs 'converted' to a suspension by a Compounding Pharmacy in Osborne Park. It is apparently not right to crush certain meds as it alters them and you can't split tabs that are not 'scored'. how much weight to do hope to lose? me around 25-30kilos. i am a couple of weeks away from 64 .....sounds old to you no doubt!

I am aiming for 30ish I think. Exciting but daunting! What do you mean 64? As in that's your current?

When is your appt?

sorry for misunderstanding.........64 years old!! as i previously stated hopping to lose 25-30kilos. will be making an appt on monday as i saw him about 6 weeks ago but had to have an endoscopy etc now done that and report being sent to Watson. seen the Dietician. i don't hurry into things here as just needed to be sure it is right for me and that i can manage ok with current meds etc. i know it will be tough at first but just have to trust i will adjust and cope. my GP has had the sleeve too and he really had very few probs. i also hope to be able to have a glass of red wine not tooooo long after surgery! my gp says he has not been able to eat steak. do you know many people who have had the sleeve?

Hi again

Oh that makes more sense! I'm 30 next month! No I haven't rushed into it. I know two good friends that have had it done, one maybe a year ago with Dr Padovan and the other about 7 years ago.

They both eat everything now, including wine! They are great to talk to about the real versions on what goes on. Always easier to talk to someone who has had it done vs Google!

I'm just worried about not being at home when I'll be feeling so crappy! I am going to stay with one of my good friends or my aunty I think.

I am waiting for my pack in the mail about everything so that should give me some more info too!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
