So far, I'm happy with the pounds I've lost, and the inches, but the one thing that bothers me the most is that my FUPA isn't getting smaller at all. I have measured both its width and its girth every month since I started this journey and there has been absolutely no change. Now I look really deformed, with most of me much smaller and this big huge roll of fat on my lower abdomen. Looks like I swallowed a life preserver! It makes finding clothes that fit properly nearly impossible and I know people are staring at it.

I have 68 pounds left to lose and I'm wondering if it will ever go away?? When did yours start to diminish? Although I was toying with the idea of getting plastics just to remove it, the cost is extremely prohibitive for this poor graduate student.

This is so depressing! :(

I don't know if I have the exact problem that you have....lol, but I hear ya! I'm losing weight in strange ways. My top half(above my belly button) is getting smaller, but below my belly button isn't shrinking. In comparison to my top, it looks so big(to me). Hopefully, we'll catch up and even out. :-/

FUPA? Are you are talking about your panniculus or apron (belly fat that hangs down in front our you personal parts)? Yes it will start to diminish, however, how long it takes to go away depends on your body. Mine has gotten a lot smaller (i am 9 months out). I would not recommend having it surgically removed until you reach your goal weight. In fact, I don't recommend any plastic surgery before your body has a chance acclimatize to your new weight loss, mainly because your skin will shrink some. Unfortunately, it will not completely return to it's former firm self.

My trainer told me building up my core will help with burning fat from this area. Crunches, planks, and toe touches (among other exercises) are some of the abuse she puts me through 3 times a week. Good luck to you and take care. :)

The FUPA will shrink but unlikely to go away completely. I lost a whole 12 inches off that area and it just hangs like a deflated balloon. Do you have stretch marks in that area? If so, forget about it!

"FUPA," for those who may not know, stands for "fat upper penile/pubic area." It's a slang term that is used to refer to the adipose (fat) tissue that resides in the pelvic region of the body.

I had to look it up....lol

Wow I thought me and my girls were the only chicks who said that. We call it FUPA - Fat Upper Pussy Area lol!

My FUPA is gone but was replaced by a mess of sagging, wrinkled chicken skin -- enough to hang down and pretty much cover my crotch. Be careful what you wish for - you may get it! A mons lift would be the first item of plastic surgery I would get if I could.

Seriously, we all have areas of fat that seem like they will never go away. I have a big spare tire between my belly button and my pubes and 25 lbs left to get to goal. I think if I hit my goal, every gram of weight lost is going to come from that spare tire because it is huge! I also struggle with finding clothes that fit. I wish I could tell you something definitive but it seems to be one of those things that is just governed by random luck and genetics.

Lol, fupa. Haven't heard that in ages. I have a feeling they never disappear, ugh. I figure that's the one pregnancy souvenir I'll be stuck unless I get it cut off.

I asked my surgeon when or if my FUPA will improve. He had never heard the term before , so I had to explain it to him. He cracked up , and tried to use correct medical terminology ( panus/ apron) for his answer. On my last visit , he told me he can't say the word panus any longer without thinking FUPA in his brain. Guess I taught the doc a lesson!

BTW, The answer to my question was the FUPA can decrease but no amount exercise or weight loss will eradicate mine due to my age and past C-sections . He will help me get a pani covered by insurance after 12 months and goal maintenance.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
