Mzdiva3 12 Posted May 17, 2014 H all. My surgery is May 20 and my children have an awards ceremony on the 27th. I really don't want to miss it so I was just wondering how all of you post op sleepers are feeling days after surgery and how soon did you get back out and start doing things outside of the home? I agree... I went back to work after 1 week and if the awards ceremony is just for a few hours, you'll be able to suck it up for those few hours even if you're tired! Pain wise- I felt like a completely different person going from day 3 to day 4... Those first few are kind of brutal but you'll be fine before you know it! Kindle 8,667 Posted May 17, 2014 I was out shopping the day after surgery....walked all over Tijuana. Flew from San Diego to SLC day 3, went grocery shopping and drove myself home 5 hours day 4. I did turn down going to a friend's house for Christmas dinner on day 5 (I was tired and couldn't eat anyways) but was back to work day. 7. You should be fine... 1 dreamscometrue reacted to this
mollz007 60 Posted May 17, 2014 I had very little pain after surgery. I think I was out of the house doing stuff by day 4 or 5. You should be fine by the 27. I couldn't drive until I was off the pain pills which was day 4. 1 dreamscometrue reacted to this
Madam Reverie 2,958 Posted May 17, 2014 I was up and walking around day 1. Out and about properly, day 3. Went food shopping. What a 'joy' that was 'Hmm.. today, I shall largely be purchasing.. nothing!' As for having to 'represent' for a few hours. You can definitely do it. Just make sure you have a pre-made Protein shake on you and sip that and Water at regular intervals. It'll give you what you need and allow you to really enjoy such an important day. You'll do great 1 dreamscometrue reacted to this
LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted May 17, 2014 I am 67 and was at the grocery store 2 days post surgery and 5 days later I walked in the mall a few hours. Piece of cake lol!
momohime 121 Posted May 17, 2014 I didn't drive the first week, but I was out pretty much every day walking around. The first thing I did when I got discharged was go to Target! I used "shopping" as a way to get my initial walking in because I live in the south and going outside to walk would be waaay too hot. I didn't want to sweat on my new incisions! But I never really felt bad.. the worst part for me was getting in and out of a seated position. That put some strain on my incisions that was uncomfortable, but other than that I was fine.. maybe a little slow though at first!
DaddyMarie 291 Posted May 17, 2014 At one week I was up to walking a mile, grocery shopping and getting my hair done with my friends. You will be fine sitting in a chair for an awards ceremony.
