househuntress 1 Posted April 15, 2007 I have a print out of what I can and can not eat but not the amounts. I just wondered if I'm *normal*. I drink a Dr. prescribed Protein/fiber drink ...powder mixed with 8 oz. Water. *takes me a half of a day to drink it all* 1 Jello cup SF..still haven't finished it 1 applesauce cup with Slenda..still not finished For lunch and supper I had a 1/2 can of cream of chicken Soup. (1/2 cup at a time) Mixed with my half cup of CC soup I added and 1/8th of a cup of pureed squash with a 1/4 tsp.of WW butter. I've drank 16 oz of water but that's the hardest to get in since I don't like drinking water...I'm working on that. I'm going to calorieking to figure out the calories...but I didn't know if your suppose to graze all day (trying to get it all eaten) or just eat 3 meals a day. fernandoandme 0 Posted April 15, 2007 I got banded on Monday and feel the same way. Man do I feel STUFFED all the time. I can't get in the 3 Protein shakes...but I figure 2 shakes- 20g protein each plus the milk equals about 60 grams of protein so I should be ok. It's really hard to believe that I could go from non stop eating to be sooooo full from eating almost nothing!!!
GR8 1 Posted April 15, 2007 I had my surgery 4-9. I was told #1 get hydrated (goal 6 - 8oz) Water or non-calorie/non carbinated beverage. #2 get Protein in --(goal 80grams and work towards 100 to 120) So what I have done is bought the IDS New Whey protein - they are 3oz; 42gr of protein. I take 2 add to 16oz water bottle and continue to fill with water. That is my 84 gr of protein each day -- then I drink a 32 oz bottle of Crystal Light Green Tea with Raspberry flavor. ( I have finished my protein 3 days in a row and come close to finishing my Tea 2 days.) I have 1/8 - 1/4 cup ice cream some nights as well. Good luck
househuntress 1 Posted April 15, 2007 I'm trying to find a new protein..what is IDS and where do you buy it?
waterlily1072 5 Posted April 15, 2007 www.bariatriceating.com has it in the rtd (ready to drink) section of shop for protien. I haven't tried that one yet so not sure how it tastes. Grazing in your liquids phase is very normal and totally ok. The most important thing is that you stay hydrated, and second get your protien in. If you have a hard time with Water being so bland try crystal light or other brands of drink mix that is no cal or extremely low cal. Oh and grats on getting banded
dede801 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Hmmmm... The first 3 post-op days I had Clear Liquids only--broth and Jello plus Water and tea. I was told a couple of ounces at a time taken in slowly. The band has no fill, but there is some swelling that can cause some stricture. Most fluids should run through the band pretty easily and painlessly if you go slowly. Therefore, technically, quantity is not an issue. I have noticed some discomfort if I have a big gulp of water because I'm not paying attention! Today I could start pureed thin full liquids, and that will continue through day 14. I had about 1/3 cup of egg custard for Breakfast and washed it down with a latte (more Protein in the milk). Protein Drinks are vile and constipate me, so I wouldn't have used those even if they had been suggested. You have plenty of protein in storage not to worry about all those grams of protein the first few days. Then you can have blenderized meat. After 2 weeks, I can have soft meat like canned tuna.< /span> My physician stressed adequate clear Fluid intake of at least 48 oz daily and nothing chunky or lumpy for 2 weeks post-op to allow the band sutures to heal. After that, I can progress to mushies. It's interesting how many variations in prescribed diets I have found on different threads. I guess physicians all have their own ideas. GR8 1 Posted April 15, 2007 I'm trying to find a new protein..what is IDS and where do you buy it? I purchase mine at "The Vitamin Shoppe" 12 vials for $29.99. It does qualify for the clear liquid diet per my doctor. I have to cut it with Water due to it has lots of flavor - and this good. To find the product check out: http://www.nextag.com/ids-new-whey-liquid-protein/search-html. Enjoy!
