dharmawheel 4 Posted May 16, 2014 I was sleeved on May 13, 2014. Just a few short days ago. My procedure went well. So well in fact I only spent one night in the hospital. However as I have read other posts here I have seen that things have been handled a good deal different in my case or so it seems. I was given only one meal of Clear liquids, Breakfast the next day and the lunch the same day put on full liquids. I have read posts here where people are a week out or even more and still on Clear Liquids.< /p> I know all Docs have different ways of doing things and all but does this seem a bit..well not right to any of you? I tried stuff on the full liquid list (yogurt, creamed thin Soup etc) and was miserable. Today I went back to veggie broth, Jello and popsicles and felt WAY better. I ordered some unflavoured powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury to add to my broth to get my Protein so that part is taken care of. Am I right in thinking all of that was just a tiny bit rushed? Seems to me that it was just a bit too hurried...
jodyjetson 72 Posted May 16, 2014 Sounds like you are trusting your thoughts and listening to your body! Good for you. I was on clear liquids for. 2 days and then on full liquid for two weeks ( just getting to the end of it on Sat because I was sleeved on May 1). Even though it's a bit boring I have had no problems (except for being severely constipated today). Everyone is different. I think the slower the better to introduce food. Good luck! MFoster9812 24 Posted May 16, 2014 My Doctor is really strict....I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks then full liquids for 2 weeks(one week left of this phase I was sle on April 24th) and then pureed for 2 weeks!
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted May 16, 2014 If you aren't tolerating full liquids, then don't push it. I do think you should explore more options for getting in your Protein on clear liquids: Isopure RTD (it's nasty but has tons of protein -- try cutting it 50/50 with Water, essence water, G2, or Powerade Zero), Unjury chicken broth, Syntrax Nectar, HealthSmart high protein bouillons -- those sorts of things. I don't think your surgeon is doing anything wrong -- mine only has his patients on 24 hours of clear liquids before moving on to fulls, and I had no problem with that regimen. But absolutely, if you aren't ready for the next stage, hang back on the previous one until you are. Good luck!
marfar7 1,533 Posted May 16, 2014 I was on full liquids from the start. Not sure I wpulda survived on clears very long. The only things they served me my 2 days in the hospital was 4 Protein shakes a day (about 4 oz each) and Water. I was on full liquids for 4 weeks. Longest 4 wks of my life. If I never c another cup of split pea Soup, it'll be too soon... Good luck to 7.
