teshadb 203 Posted May 16, 2014 Am technically 7 days post op for my surgery but had to go back in due to issues recovering. So I was discharged from the hospital today. liquids gag or don't sit well. The smells of everything turn me off. I am so weak I'm scared at this point that I will never get liquids down. I take of ran and not 2 seconds later I vomit. Any help with this or hope would be great.
jkkoutso 1 Posted May 16, 2014 What are you sipping? Plain Water can be very difficult to drink and actually induce vomiting in some people. Certain flavers can also gag you. I had to completely change which shakes I drank. And even which flavor poweradezero I drank. I also have to take zofran for a few weeks after.
1Day1Life4Now 882 Posted May 16, 2014 If you have started taking Vitamins or are still taking pain medication they could be making you sick. Stop the drugs. As the previous poster said the Water can make you nauseous so you might need a little flavoring like crystal light, SF Kool Aid, or some of the others. The first week is pretty difficult and you just might need a couple of more days. Did your doctor give you some anti=nausea medication to bring home? If so take that and if not... call your doctor and get some. Good luck.
teshadb 203 Posted May 16, 2014 Just Water apple juice and broth I've tried
plumlove 12 Posted May 16, 2014 Just Water apple juice and broth I've tried I had some nausea but not severe. Warm herbal tea worked for me. Chamomile and cinnamon read felt nice. Also sad to say but I rarely have plain Water - I have crystal light - so be life water 0 - Vitamin water 0… Please ask your doc for nausea meds if needed. If you cannot drink you will get dehydrated end up back in the hospital so please let the Dr know. 1 peteyrulz reacted to this

I am pretty sure I need some sort of calcium other than my multi Vitamin but it was so bad I was curled up in bed all day. Within 1 day of stopping the calcium I felt 90% better. 1 peteyrulz reacted to this
Carlotta1 401 Posted May 16, 2014 I could not take my Vitamins during the first 2-3 weeks. I would regurgitate Water, liquids, soft foods etc. till I was 4 weeks out .. If you get too weak ..I'd call my dr to make sure you are all right. Better be safe than sorry. 1 peteyrulz reacted to this

Strange I know but I have read others having this. Yesterday was my first day to drink ice water and it not give me bad reflux. It is a slow process but it will get better. TheWigster 70 Posted May 16, 2014 I didn't tolerate the acidic drinks like Crystal Light and Vitamin Water well. Chamomile and Peppermint tea went down very well and were soothing. 1 peteyrulz reacted to this
bpfrummy 1 Posted May 18, 2014 I thought I was crazy that I couldn't handle the smell of my dh's food this weekend. It made me crazy like when I was PG! Thanks for making me see I am normal. I am glad to see I can tell my husband I am normal. 1 peteyrulz reacted to this
