JanetPRN 496 Posted May 16, 2014 Could it be an internal stitch poking out?
OGmom3122 7 Posted May 16, 2014 Could be a stitch. Give your Dr a call
LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted May 16, 2014 If it looks like a bristle or thread its a stitch. If it is a big bulge could be a hernia. When in doubt always call your doctor!!!
Carlotta1 401 Posted May 16, 2014 I felt a hardness underneath the place where I was cut. still do..but it has shrunk. But nothing poking out of my cut.
LindafromFlorida 1,542 Posted May 16, 2014 I get it. It is normal. I remember feeling around my incisions. You swell, it hardens, and it heals. But always call your doc if in doubt. Trust your gut instinct, not us humans LOL! 1 lialove reacted to this
Bluesea71 698 Posted May 16, 2014 I had my surgery about 4 weeks, ago. And today I noticed something hardish coming out one of my cuts on the right side. Has anyone else had this happen??? I had a plastic stitch coming out if two of my incisions. One my doctor could feel but was unable to clip it back. The other surfaced a few weeks later and I could actually see it. I tried to pull it with tweezers (bad idea) and stopped as it would have reopened the wound. I ended up sterilizing some nail clippers and cutting it back. I did a search on BP and read they eventually dissolve. I hope this is the case. These wounds seem a tad more irritated than the others.
amumes 27 Posted May 16, 2014 I have one poking out now too. Oh I am so glad you posted your question. I think it's a stich. I tried using tweezers and quickly stopped. Not a good idea. I am going to call my doc office today.

Bec101 227 Posted May 16, 2014 I had 2 stitches poking through and all my doctor did was cut it back. After a few weeks they went away. Don't be too worried
O-Town Body Rock 148 Posted May 16, 2014 I have a hard little knot under my incision about the size of a small pea. It doesnt hurt or anything but i can feel when i touch it. Hopefully it will just go away.

Bluesea71 698 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) Thought I'd give an update. I could still feel the hard plastic stitch that I cut back a few weeks ago. All of my incisions are healing nicely except this one. Tonight I tried to grab it with my tweezers. Remember, I tried this a few weeks ago and it started to open up my wound so I stopped and just cut it back with sterilized nail clippers. This time, the stitch slid right out. I will attach a picture. Midway there is a knot in it. I'm now 5.5 weeks out. Edited May 26, 2014 by Bluesea71 1 Bec101 reacted to this

Bluesea71 698 Posted May 26, 2014 Holly Cow!! That's BIG!! Mine is still there and I am still scared to pull on it lol!! And it's been about 6 weeks for me. It really isn't that big. It's probably 1-1.5 mm or so. The part that was poking out was one of the tiny sides above the knot. I'm pretty certain these stitches desolve on their own. Problem is the part poking up was irritating the incision and it wouldn't heal around it
