The burning and growling isn't hunger it's acid. As everyone has said, call your dr and get on a strong antacid ASAP and it will be gone. I took Protonix for five months post op.

Try drinking some chicken broth. The warm Soup may help curb your hunger.

Today is such a better day. I'm not sure as to why... But hey!! I guess as days pass things will get easier.

I stepped on the scale today when I got home and I'm already down 8 lbs since Tuesday. Previously I took nexium but he didn't tell me to take any meds and I have to start my Vitamins next week. The reflux is horrible. I feel like I need something thicker like a Protein Shake. I don't know if that's safe being I'm only 2 days out.... At this point in regretting doing the surgery my tummy is burning so bad. I know it will get better, but the process is killing me. Best part is I wasn't even a big food eater prior to the surgery. Everyone says head hunger but this is my stomach burning and growling....

My doctor told me to take Prilosec/Omeprazole 20mg 2 x per day for at least 4 months. I promise if you take it, you will feel a whole lot better. I purchased 4 months worth in Mexico before coming home from surgery. I have never felt heart burn post op. I do feel "hunger" when I forget to take it.

My best to you! Hope this helps.

Try not to think about it... It's hard but it's only in your head...try to think of any thing else. Hold on :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
