2muchfun 8,927 Posted May 16, 2014 What have you been eating and what did you eat that made you feel like you have restriction?
ddsweighin228 28 Posted May 16, 2014 Well to be honest , I have a horrible habit of not eating Breakfast during the week I drink 2 cups of coffee and I use silk milk as my Creamer and a 1/2 a packet of splenda. Today for example we went to Lubys for lunch and I had a side salad w/dressing on the side and a cup of chicken noodle Soup, for dinner my husband bbq'd hamburgers , so I ate a small portion of the patty w/lettuce and Tomato, no bun and no chips... Multifacet 66 Posted May 16, 2014 Lettuce always makes me feel restricted. Much prefer Protein over it. I will say, some foods make you feel it more than others.
ddsweighin228 28 Posted May 16, 2014 The reason I know I am having restriction is cause at lunch I felt full 1/2 thru my Soup and lately I had to be careful cause I could finish everything without even thinking about it
toomuchrose 47 Posted May 16, 2014 @@ddsweighin228 How does it feel? My surgery is next Tuesday and I appreciate reading comments from people who have already gotten banded so I know what to expect. How long was it from your surgery until the first fill? 1 ddsweighin228 reacted to this
waytogo123 2 Posted May 16, 2014 Hi! I've been banded for 13 weeks so far. And had my 1st fill at 6 weeks post op, most surgeons like to wait till most of the swelling goes down to be able to an adjustment. Each doctor is different, please don't be afraid to ask all your questions to the surgeon and their team. They"ll be happy to assist you. Good Luck!!
ddsweighin228 28 Posted May 16, 2014 Is this normal ?
ddsweighin228 28 Posted May 16, 2014 @2muchrose my surgery was not bad at all to be honest I was hardly sore, I had my surgery on 4/11 Friday and by 4/13 I was back at work and I did not tell any one at work I had this surgery. I had my first fill may 2nd and it was not bad at all. I did have a lot of shoulder pain after surgery but I read in a post that if you rotate your arms it helps get rid of the gas pain and it did help me by the next day it was all gone. 1 toomuchrose reacted to this
ddsweighin228 28 Posted May 16, 2014 I am just wondering is it normal during this period to loose 1lb and then gain it back , loose it again and gain it back again ?
2muchfun 8,927 Posted May 16, 2014 I've seen it posted here before on several occasions so it may not be the norm but does happen for some.
crystaleffexx 18 Posted May 16, 2014 For the first 3 months after I had my surgery (dec 12,2013). I pretty much could eat whatever I wanted and I had already had 2 fills... I thought it was weird so my follow up in April and I explained what was happening and they remeasured my Fluid only to find out I had none added since my surgery the technician missed my port each time.. Grrrr needless to say I pretty much had to start all over and they made sure to add fluid this time and I definitely feel restriction. I'm like you haven't lost much weight and getting really frustrated so I decided I'm not going to depend on my band as much and hit the gym as much as possible when I started doing that it jump started my weight loss and I lost 10 lbs in 1 week but that was 1 hour at the gym cardio every day for 7 days. Now I feel motivated again but because I had no restriction in my band for so long I have to learn the right habits all over again. I find my self over the toilet quite a bit but I'm leading what I can and cannot eat.. Lettuce is a no for me it feels really uncomfortable I am trying to stick to my shakes and soft Proteins and veggies. It's all trial and error you will find out what works for you. ddsweighin228 28 Posted May 16, 2014 @crystapeffexx Thank You for this info, I knew this journey would be hard but did not realize how hard. Today I felt like I was losing this battle but after reading your input I feel a whole lot better. I am so ready to start a kickboxing/boxing class but the doctor said I have to wait 2 wks more, you know I feel like I just need so much support to help me get through this other people do no understand what a battle it is to loose weight, my husband is supportive but he is very thin and can eat anything and does not gain weight so he really does not get the concept of how hard this is. I also knew that there would be bandster hell , I am hoping that what I am going thru is considered bandster hell
bluegudren 156 Posted May 16, 2014 It all sounds familiar. I was gaining and losing te same 4 lbs for 3 months. Then finally this last fill and I vomited and slimed and all the nastiness! I find that if I don't sip a bit when I eat I get stuck. For me seafood is the way to go. Sea bass, scallops, crab etc. hamburger is painful. So is chicken. Lost 7 lbs this last month so i think I am finally on track.

How long have you had your surgery? How much have you lost so far? It sounds like we are having the same issues.
