So I am a month out and I feel very lucky because I had a very smooth surgery and recovery. I never threw up, never got sick or nauseated, and I can tolerate just about any food if I chew it well. Still, my favs are the Protein Shake and yoghurts.

However I really have to eat every 2-3 hours, if I forget about eating I get sudden stomach cramps, really intense, and I feel like I will pass out. I have to sit down and immediately I have to eat something, like a yoghurt or pudding, and the pain goes away as fast as it came.

Is this happens to anybody else? I hate it, I have a fast paced job and I can not just sit down and eat. I will return to work on Monday and I am worried...

First I would say call your doctor. There could be so many reasons this is happening. My first thought was low blood sugar or low blood pressure. Make sure you are drinking enough Water throughout the day. Dehydration can cause low BP.

Ai tend to eat something ever couple of hours as well, so find quick Snacks that you can have at this stage. Talk with your NUT and make sure you follow their plan.

I'm one month out as well. When my meals take 25 minutes as instructed by my practice, I seem to avoid feeling crappy. If I only eat for 15 minutes then I feel crappy in about 3 hours. I also think different foods do last longer. And hydration is key.

Your bariatric practice will be able to assess what you are eating and help you identity what's going on.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
