Multi-disciplinary prep?

Recommended Posts

I went to the mandatory seminar at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, TX last night and now I have more questions than ever! My insurance (Aetna) requires a three month "Multi-Disciplinary Surgical Preparation Regimen" ????! I don't even know what this is or how to get started! Do I wait for the surgeon's office to send the "commitment letter" first (1-3 weeks) and wait for them to tell me what to do or start this on my own? The surgeon said we could do as much of the requirements pre-letter as we wanted. I know my insurance covers the surgery as I called them before I went to the seminar. Also, the surgeon told me with my history, I would need to be on the pre-op diet three to four weeks prior to surgery What do I have to look forward to there? I just thought I was stressed before the seminar....I'm pretty much off the chart now! Any answers will be gratefully received!!

Mommabird I also have Aetna the Multi Disp Sug Prep is that you meet with the Surgeon and discuss that you need to be on a pre-surg diet you will decide how many calories daily and liquid intake and excercise you will need to log daily via fitness pal or another app or just a journal. also you are required to have a psych eval, nutrition eval and depending on your health pulm if yoiu have poss sleep apnea, cardio, ultrasound to check gall bladder. This process is for 3 months you will see the surgeon 1 time per month than your request for surgery will be sent to to to Aetna for approval .I'm doing this righ now and i have lost 5lbs in 2 days i have been using 1200 calories a day liquid intake 64 oz excercise just short walks as i have osteoarthritis both knees. i see my surgeon for the 1st time on 6/3/14 but I worlk for Dignituy Health and know what i need to do. so decided to get started to make this process much easier! Good Luck with your decision any questiosn this board is extremley helpful!!
