MistyAnnMoon829 387 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) I want to start off by saying that this is easily my favorite of all the forums! The questions asked and answered in here are AMAZING! So thank you ladies for all being so open and honest and non judgemental of each other! Especially since there are plenty of people out there who judge us already. I'm pre-op and it's my TOM so I am bingeing a little (ok, a lot) and I was wondering...Post-op what are the best ways you counter your TOM cravings?! Mostly I want chocolate or sweets or greasy food and I know that is a little tough for awhile (read a looooooooooong time) after VSG. Teachamy 1,042 Posted May 15, 2014 Ummm... well, let's see. Last night I ate Pirate's Booty for dinner. Ho hum. Not always easy to counter PMS--and last night was a prime example for me. Find a chocolate Protein Bar you enjoy, and leave room in your calorie restrictions for a little treat. Exercise more. At least your binges will be smaller post-op! 2 BeagleLover and BigGirlPanties reacted to this

I look forward to my stomach not being able to hold a lot. That will definitely curb my TOM binges.
Ava324 413 Posted May 16, 2014 I'm 5 months out, and since surgery, my TOM is TAM. Twice. A. Month. I only get two weeks off between periods. Can I borrow your thread a little and ask, has anyone else run into this? I have mini-stalls each time, and it's inconvenient in so many ways. As for cravings post-op, the key is not to feel like you're denying yourself. I highly recommend cookie dough Quest bars. Sooo friggin good! Arctic Zero makes a great icecream substitute. 150ish cals in a pint! I'm also digging Syntrax Matrix's cookie Protein shakes. Peanut Butter cookie and chocolate mint cookie. Mmm. You'll have tons of options to satisfy your cravings. For my next TAM, I'm gonna make some CAKE! 2 Raquel Rena and MistyAnnMoon829 reacted to this
Madam Reverie 2,958 Posted May 16, 2014 I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.. But when my cravings hit? I eat two squares of high cocoa content chocolate. Like 70% plain. And good quality, too - Lindt, for example. I was told to do this by my quack, who said that the high level of cocoa sates cravings far better than the milky, full of palm oil/butter type stuff. I have to say - it works and stops me from trying to chow down on doughnuts, cake, burgers, anything I can get my grubby little paws on and the like 3 ladykatie_, MistyAnnMoon829 and reading mom reacted to this
moonlitestarbrite 902 Posted May 17, 2014 i actually eat the 86% cocoa chocolate from trader joe's... it has a bitter quality to it that not everyone likes, but it sure hits the spot for me, with barely any sugar. also like a scoop of coconut butter... good fat, yummy flavor, no sugar. BellaHugz 331 Posted May 17, 2014 Well at least your not howling at the moon right before your TOM and going and having crazy sex.. lol So i digress, laughter helps. Also sugar free fudsicles help me too. They are 40 cals and they do the job! 1 MistyAnnMoon829 reacted to this
reading mom 85 Posted May 18, 2014 My answer is similar to M Rev's. Try a truffle or two that are the darkest and highest quality you can find. this truly satisfies me till the next time I'm hormonal. 1 MistyAnnMoon829 reacted to this

Any popsicle that is sugar free tastes almost the same. Since I'm about a 7 year old at heart, I eat popsicles all the time and willingly bought sugar free ones before surgery. What? Who does that?! 1 MistyAnnMoon829 reacted to this

I had such a hard time drinking Water or even sucking on ice chips. I got Fluid almost exclusively from popsicles. Yummy! Still can't beat a sugar free nectar snowball though. 1 MistyAnnMoon829 reacted to this

emc9521 1 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't have any insight on this topic as I'm pre-sleeve, but I did want to say when I was reading the title "TOM and Cravings" the only thing I could think of was why is she craving Tom's?(shoes). Needless to say, I haven't exactly learned all the acronyms yet! Elisabeth 1 MistyAnnMoon829 reacted to this
