mandajean1182 11 Posted May 15, 2014 Over Mother's Day weekend I was sick with a stomach virus. I was having diarrhea really bad and could not even take a drink of Water without having severe stomach cramps. Those symptoms were typical with the strain of virus that was going around. For a gastric patient, this took a huge toll on my body! I couldn't eat anything for days. I just was able to eat again yesterday. For four days I was not able to eat. I am STILL having stomach cramps though. My stomach is still all out of whack! I need to start drinking my Protein Shakes again but everything makes my stomach cramp up! Rena's got this 274 Posted May 15, 2014 That's rough on you. If you think you might be dehydrated, go to the doc and ask her to give you some saline. That should make you feel a lot better. Other than that, just take it easy and rest yourself and your tummy. I was lucky, I had a stomach virus that began at 4am and was over at noon. It was the only time I've ever thrown up or had diarrhea since the surgery, and was a different experience altogether than what I was used to. Lol...nothing in there most of the time to throw up! Still, it was not fun.

elfnow 277 Posted May 16, 2014 Hang in there, don't worry about food, just stay hydrated!! Worry about food later. remember BRAT diet for post-stomach-bug: bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast. Even a half a banana will help settle your guts down.
