MrsPJ 43 Posted May 15, 2014 I had my first fill this past Friday. I feel like I can eat way more than I could before my fill and am very hungry in the evenings. Thankfully, I haven't gained any weight back, but I am ready to get the next ten pounds off. I realize that each doctor has their own rules on how often you should get a fill, but has anyone had another fill as early as a week later?

MrsPJ 43 Posted May 15, 2014 Thank you. I am going to call in the morning to see what my doctors protocol is. ( Hoping they say sooner rather than later
B-52 7,113 Posted May 15, 2014 My Dr.'s protocol was every 4 weeks from the day of surgery....I GAINED weight between my first and second fill....but then I only needed 3 fills over 12 weeks....and that was over 3 years ago...still holding fast and steady ever since. A lot depends upon how much your Dr. gives per fill also....My Dr. was aggressive with me....and I've been told by some other of his patients he was not so aggressive.... 1 MrsPJ reacted to this

I realize that each doctor has their own rules on how often you should get a fill, but has anyone had another fill as early as a week later? I call my dr speedy Gonzales because everything he does is fast paced. 1 appt before the surgery, back to work 1 week after the surgery, back on solids 1 week after the surgery, large fills. Anyway, even HE wouldn't fill me before 3 weeks in between. I know you are anxious but just give it time and adjust yourself. You will get there. I just went for my 3rd fill today, hoping I'm finally where I need to be in between 6.5-7 cc and my dr said I seem to be kind of tight but I felt like where I was with 1 cc less was too little. 1 MrsPJ reacted to this
MrsPJ 43 Posted May 18, 2014 Wendy, Thank you for the insight. I was ready to jump the gun, but to my surprise, I am down 1 lb!!! Yeaaa! Since I had the fill, I have been able to eat anything. I am too scared to try bread simply because I know its my weakness. Come on will power!!! 1 Wendydarling19 reacted to this
kimk1999 450 Posted May 18, 2014 Many different factors going on here... How much (qty of cc's) did your doc give you? My doc was pretty aggressive at first and then tapered off. She still wouldn't do any sooner than 4 weeks. I was filled to 4.8cc with the first fill and then it has been much slower. I definitely felt like some of the fills were pointless and could still eat way too much. I felt like there was no restriction at all and I was frustrated. Just be patient and trust the docs schedule. It's good to go slow to understand how to eat with this device. Good luck and just take a deep breath. It sucks. It is still more of a diet at this point but it will get better.
MrsPJ 43 Posted May 20, 2014 Hi Kim! I was filled with 3cc's at the time of my surgery. My first fill was only 1cc. I am slowly but surely coming around to how and what my body can handle. I am trying to stay focused on what my body needs instead of what it wants. There is definetly a lot more to having the band than I could have imagined even after being told. I guess experience IS the best teacher That is awesome that you've made it back into the one hundreds!!! I am so ready for that as well. Well, good night and good luck to you. You may not need a whole lot more so I wouldn't like I said before def take your time, I know you are excited but it's healthier to lose slower. I feel like I am losing sooooo slow but I have lost 40 lbs in just under 4 months. That's a pretty okay rate. Just 10 away from onederland, I can taste it so I want it so bad! Hang in there hon! You got this too!!!

1973Angel 34 Posted May 21, 2014 It's so interesting to read others' journey! I only had one fill about 2 months after surgery. Given my situation...I should have had more but hindsight is 20/20!

Given my situation...I should have had more but hindsight is 20/20!Nah, some people are actually very successful without ever getting a fill at all. Many others are content with just 1-2 cc's. I think it depends on the individual and what they need to feel the appropriate amount of restriction to lose weight. Everyone is different. So if you're feeling full long enough, not getting stuck, etc you're probably pretty good.
