I had my VSG done today and I feel like I could sleep thru the night if I was positioned correctly. I can't sleep upright on my back. Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

However you can tolerate it. I was one of the unlucky ones who needed a recliner for the first several nights...

So glad you are feeling so well!

Try a few positions and sleep in whatever one feels comfy. Many use pillows behind their back while on their side to prop themselves up. Have a great night!

I was sleeved on 5/5. I slept on a recliner the 1st night home, then from then on I sleep propped up with pillows on my bed, partially turned on my left side with one of my daughter's stuffed animal under my face to accomodate my head. Hey, it works for me :)

I haven't been able to sleep thru the night yet though, but only wake up once due to gas.

I slept in my recliner for the first 4 days. Many day 5 I was able to sleep In bed. On my back or partial side with 4 pillows holding me in.

Whatever works for you. I slept flat on my back and either side starting the first night home. I never needed "propping". I was even getting in and out of my low waterbed with no problems. It was about 2 weeks before I could comfortably sleep on my stomach because I just felt so bloated.

I needed propping. I bought a wedge but it was too high. I cant sleep on my side because it feels weird like my organs are dangling, and I am side sleeper. Now I just sleep propped up on pillows.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
