How much were you eating at 6 months post op?

Recommended Posts

How many calories and how much volume (in ounces) were/are you eating at 6 months? I will be 6 months out on the 25th and am currently eating about 5 ounces at a time and 800-1000 calories a day. I'm down about 66lbs from preop and 57 lbs from surgery. Wish it were more but I kind of fell off the last six weeks after a personal tragedy. Still lost 11 lbs, though. Anyway, I'm working to get back on track now. Also, how many carbs are you eating? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm out just over 5 months and eat no more than 4 oz per meal. I average about 1100 - 1200 calories a day.

I'm almost 6 months out.... I usually do 100-1200 calories and the amount varies on the type of food. Breakfast I ALWAYS eat the same thing. Don't know why, I just do.

1 lite and fit greek yogurt

2 TBSP Fage plain greek yogurt

1 oz almond slices

1/2 cup blueberries

1/2 cup strawberries

1 TBSP chia seeds

! TBSP flax Seeds

lunch is usually a salad with chicken, feta and some nuts

dinner is usually some sort form Protein, turkey, ground turkey, chicken, tofu, hot dogs :) and veggies~ sometimes potato or sweet potato,

I make most of our food so I do make Protein balls for Snacks or protein muffins. I also use Quest bars and carb advantage Protein shakes or a grande non fat sugar free latte for Snacks.

I am 7 months out and eat b/w 700 -900 cals a day. I eat mostly Protein foods, and very little carbs and approx 4-5 ozs per meal. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it is more than enough for me. If I want a cocktail, I have one; the same goes for dessert or Snacks. I do not deprive myself but I find that a bite satisfies me as much as a plateful. I seem to crave chicken daily and after I have it, I am good to go for a while. Quest bars are a "go to" food for me, I always have one stashed nearby. the weight loss is definitely slowing down, but it is still at 1 lb a week.

Shortly before the six-month point I was getting hungrier more often and able to eat more in one sitting. Also, my weight loss slowed some. My surgeon said that this was normal and to be expected. He said if I were hungry that I should eat. Had I made better choices in what I ate I'd be closer to goal by now. But still running and still making progress at almost a year out.

I'm 6 months out and average about 1200 calories a day. I can eat about 4-5 ounces of lean Protein, plus a little bit. After a hard workout the other day I had about 7 oz of chili. I'm all over the place with what I eat but I'd say about 80% of the time I make pretty good choices. I'm not losing as quickly as some, but I'm also already at between 60 and 70% of excess weight loss (depending on how you look at it) so I think that's fine.

It seems like I can eat more than most sleeve people I talk to. I don't know if that's because my restriction is different or because I'm just lucky. I'm not pleasant when I'm hungry, so this is working for me, if slowly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
