I'd like to ask your help. I am only getting in 600-800 calories a day. I find that amount satiates me but I need to add about 200 calories each day to move further away from starvation mode, trying to jump start my metabolism. I am meeting goals for Protein, fat and carbs with very low to little sugar in my diet.

Do any of you have suggestions about what I might add to my food intake each day to add 200 healthy calories? I find I am only able to consume 3-4 ounces of protein at a time---- my first thought was to add a larger portion of protein but don't want to make myself sick or stretch out my sleeve.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

Maybe some almonds as a snack or string cheese. I tolerate the string cheese well.

--peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter - eat a tablespoonful, or add it to your Protein Shake if you do shakes

--handful of nuts as a snack

--add some guacamole to your Protein

--slice up some avocado and add to salad, or spice it up and bake it for avocado fries

--eat a slice or two of cheese

--put some grass-fed butter on your veggies

--drink whole milk instead of skim milk

--saute your meat or veggies in olive oil

--eat sardines canned in olive oil instead of leaner fish like tilapia

Do a 1-2 of these things per day and you'll hit 200 calories easily. I am not afraid of naturally occurring healthy fats!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
