Recommended Posts

Sorry gentlemen but guys weight loss amounts are wayyy higher than ours so keeping you out of this one lol!

Anyway, ladies, how much weight did you lose your first week post-op? I go to my first doc appointment after my surgery last Monday and hope I lost at least 6 lbs! Is this realistic??

I'm down 8 lbs since my surgery less than 5 days ago. I'm still on my clear liquid diet until Thursday so I'm sure that has contributed. Your goal is within reach!!! Good luck!

I refused to weigh myself for the first month. I didn't even want to look at the scale when I went to the doctor's office, but then I ended up taking a peak and remember being happy, but couldn't tell you the number. I do allow myself to weight myself once a week now, but frankly I just feel happy when I stick to the plan. Not eating garbage, not binge eating - what a feeling of freedom! And the fit of my pants tell me all I need to know! :)

20 lbs! I never lost that much again, though. I'm 5 weeks shy of being a year out and I average 2-3 pounds a month now. Good luck to you!!!

Isn't the amount one loses based on how much they have to lose? So one person who weighs 360 will more likely lose more than someone who weighs 220! I think percentages should be used to compare.

I gained the first week postop. Fluid weight. The most I ever lost in a given time frame was 22 pounds in 16 days PREOP. Everyone is different, and you will drive yourself crazy trying to compare yourself to others.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
