Question about drinks / fluids

I have two questions...

1. Do Protein Drinks count toward the amount of fluids we are supposed to have daily?

2. Is a Protein Drink considered drinking before/after eating like other drinks? For example, if I have a Protein drink and string cheese for lunch, does the 15/60 minute rule apply?

In my program, we counted Protein drinks towards fluids - a big deal in the early weeks since it was hard to get enough Fluid in. I always treated them like any other liquid and applied the eating time limits.

My fluids rule is 30/30. Yes, I do count my Protein Drinks as part of my fluids. So, my doctor's plan recommends 30/30 for shakes after and before foods, too.
