When did weight loss stop?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I am almost 3 months post op sleeve and down 60 lbs, woo hoo! :) I was just curious when other sleevers noticed that their weight loss stopped? 12 months? 18? Only 6? I am still hoping to lose a lot more and I am currently in a stall, so I need reassurance that I will still lose! Thanks everyone! :)

I am 10 months and I am about at goal. I really slowed at 8 months. I think it depends on how close you are to goal. If you have more or less to loose this depends on the loss and how long. I averaged like 3-4 pounds for the last 2 months but like I said I am about 14 pounds from goal. My body just hold on to the last pounds like crazy. I even work out harder now etc. I figured it will be about a year out that I will be at goal this July.

I believe there is no expiration date - the sleeve keeps working as long as you keep "working it".

I lost 150# in 14 months to get to my goal in Feb 2013 - definately was faster at the beginning but when I hit long stalls it was always due to excess carb consumption...

Since then I have lost another 15 or so pounds... sometimes hard sometimes easier.

I know you were asking about the "honeymoon" period - a real thing - but I wanted to point out that it is never too late and that there does not need to be an "end" until you decide to go into maintenance.

I have found myself in a 3 month stall starting at ~6 months. I know (from reading the advice of others) that I need to get back to basics....following all the recommendations and not letting myself slip into old bad habits. I have been really good about exercising and am confident that combining it with good eating habits and tracking my foods will jump start my weight loss again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
