Mo' Cowbell Marathon on October 4th in St. Charles, Mo.

This will be my first full marathon. I'm using the walkjogrun.net "Beginner Run Marathon Training Plan" and plan on somewhere around a 5 hour pace.

I'm at the end of the 3rd week of the 18 week plan. I've done 16 miles...once in the past, and this plan has you go up to 20 miles before the big day.

I was thinking of starting a "Fall 2015 Goal Run" thread. No matter what distance each person is doing for this falls goal "race", maybe it'd help us achieve it. We could each put our daily or weekly training runs on there. Any interest?

Yes! Just finished my marathon and Spartan race and heading in for plastics later this week so I am being cautious on my fall goals (couple of Ragnars and half marathons) but would totally join in! No training for me for 4-6 weeks at least though.

Bellin Women's Half Marathon

September 26th 2015

Planning on walking the distance, as I will be 3 months post op at that point. gives me a reason to get off my a@@ and out the door.

The course is lovely - a paved path along the shores of Green Bay, during the peak of fall colors. Hoping for cool and clear, but will do it if it is rainy/snowy/hellhot or whatever!

I'm going to be in training for the 5k at the RnR in vegas. Perhaps we should set up a meet up? How can we get the word out across BAriatric PAl far and wide? Since they have events for all of us (5, 10, half, full) at all stages, would be good to get as many people as we can to it..

Any ideas??

Good uck on the plastics, I'll be asking you about those in about 8 months..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
