Holy cow, that's fast! My 16mins/mile speed with C25K includes 10 mins of walking, but still. Great job!!

It might have been a fluke but I'm pretty proud nonetheless!! Today's jog/walk was slower, about 14min/mil, but I'm gonna chalk that up to being sore from my first day of yoga yesterday lol

Thanks!! Congrats on your progress too!!

So I did my first run on Saturday. 2mi.

Place (women): 64 Time: 27:36 Pace: 13:48

My time was so much better than I thought it'd be! :D And I could have kept going. Which is a good thing, because I'm signing up for my first 5K - 8/15.
Also, I'm so freaking proud of my husband. He's hasn't had surgery, but he's been supporting me every step of the way and getting healthier too. He's down 60+lbs to 215 now.
Place (men) 102 Time: 21:53 Pace: 10:56

Sunday I will be doing my longest duathlon so far. 5K run 30K bike and another 5K run. Did my last push of training this morning. I know I will likely be the slowest but I know I will finish!

First 5K tomorrow. So freaking excited!

Also registered for a 5K 9/12 and a mini marathon (4 miles) 11/23. Signing up for these runs well in advance is a real motivator. I'll make my one year surgiversary 12/10, so the mini-marathon is perfect timing.

I agree - signing up ahead is great incentive. Today I did my first 5k since my surgery three and a half months ago (the one I walked three years ago doesn't feel like it counts any more!). My time today was kinda lousy, but I met my goal of finishing in under an hour and without injury or pain. My pace was 15.17/mile and 47.02 total, so my goal for the next month is to get to 5k in under 40 minutes. Unfortunately I work on Sunday mornings, and at least half the runs out there are on Sundays -- still, that leaves the other half!

I'm looking to do my first 1/2 marathon in February. I've never done any sort of marathon but I really want to try. Does anyone have any tips in terms of nutrition? I'm 2 months post-op with RNY.

For me it's all about walking, hiking and backpacking and where the next adventure is going to take me. For the last 6 months I have been training for a recent backpacking trip to Colorado. We had a blast! Now I am training for an easier trip to the Ouachita Mountains next month. I love the outdoors!! Always looking for a new adventure. Next year my wife and I are planning some hikes in the Smoky Mountain National Park and a small segment of the Appalachian Trail.

My daughter is training a team for the local Tough Mudder here - which I've wanted to do since i learned about them. She's pushing me to pick one and train for it, so i'm thinking Chicago May 9-10 in 2015. Anyone else interested?

I completed and rocked the Dirty Girl 5K mud run a few weeks ago.

Onward: I signed up for the Tunnel-to-Towers 5K in NYC at the end of September, a local neighbors 5K on raise funds for her son'a medical condition in October and the Baltimore Color Run 5K in November. I also want to do the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning at my parents place in NY.

Lots of plans and big plans to rock them all!! :)

I am 60 days out and I just finished a Diva Dash yesterday. It was extremely difficult but excellent training for the Sparta Race this November.

My second 5K event starts at 6:50 tonight. I'm confident that I'll beat my best time (46 minutes).

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
