Howdy everyone.

So I am 5mos post-op, and before my surgery, I would have the occasional cigar during a spring/summer evening as I was sitting out on the deck.

Just wondering if any other people have either started smoking, or smoked cigars post-op, and when.

Im not a big smoker, but would like to start enjoying a cigar every once in awhile.

Thanks for reading!

Coach Josh,

Please re-think your desire to start smoking. You have done something wonderful for yourself and have gotten healthier as well; please don't take away from this good thing by smoking. Remember all the health risks that smoking causes. It's just not worth it. Sometimes we do things that are not good for us and think that it wont hurt. But if we continue and those times will eventually add up. Just like our weight problem. Now you have gotten a handle on the weight. You will only trade that problem for another if you chose to start another habit that is detrimental to your health. I wish you well in your journey.

There a a lot of smoking discussion boards. So if you don't receive the answers your wanting I would definitely suggest you search for other smoking boards there are tons out there for post op. Good luck :)

Hi. I don't want to be attacked, but I smoked pre-op and continue to do so post-op. Please no lectures. We all have vices, and I am well aware of the dangers. Although likely no one will agree, I personally think a cigar (once in a blue moon) wouldn't be harmmful. :) Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
