Has anyone tried diluted Gatorade during the weeks when Water has a funny taste? I tried the sugar free and it's nasty but if the hospital gave me diluted apple juice figured diluted Gatorade might help the hydration.

Not a fan of the G2 from Gatorade, but the Powerade Zero is pretty ok.

I drank G2 during the post op phase and will still drink it if I feel like I'm a little dehydrated (last Friday, had a business trip out of town in a single day and had a G2 before getting on the second plane.)

I never bothered to Water it down because I drink more fluids if they taste good. Since the surgery I'm not nearly as likely to drink plain Water. I don't know why, but I don't sweat it. I just add a crystal light or something.

Why would you dilute the Gatorade? I drank it regular. I couldn't handle regular Water. No matter what the temperature.

I was trying to lower the sugar content. But it's low compared to most drinks. I just can't stand the artificial sugar taste. I was fine with crystal light first couple weeks then it tasted funny too. And regular Gatorade seems to sweet full strength now. Just wondering if anyone had dumping issues from not diluting it.

I drink G2 gatorade everyday, I buy the 16.9oz and drink 1/2 of it everyday, maybe you can add a sugar free drop in to give it some flavor. I didnt like it at first but I have been drinking them everyday since surgery.

The server size you would be ingesting is just so low is why I was wondering. I think you just need to find whatever works for you to get your liquids in. For me, plain Water was intolerable, but I was able to drink Gatorade (undiluted). I wasn't worried about the sugar as I knew over the course of the day, in the grand scheme of things, it would be minimal. I was sleeved, so I don't know what the tolerance levels for dumping are, but I can't imagine a Gatorade would set off a dumping session, but that is merely conjecture.

I agree with you, the sugar-free or sugar substitute stuff is just plain nasty. With my restriction, I can't get enough of it for me to worry about, so I don't.

Ohh I'll look for that. So far slightly diluted Gatorade isn't making me sick. And easier to drink than Water.

I cant handle High Fructose Corn Syrup, etc.-- that's what makes me feel sick. Or Sucralose (Splenda), blech.

So far I can handle it if it's a lower sugar greek yogurt and diluted fruit juice which they gave me in the hospital. Any more and I get queasy and I really don't want to get hooked on super sweet stuff again.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
