@@jjinWA here are some places to buy samples and variety boxes. If you are planning to try the samples before surgery, make sure you buy at least two samples of that flavor. Because you really don't want to commit to anything larger than a sample until you have tasted it after surgery!

My favorite brands are Jay Robb, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard, Chike, Syntrax nectar Sweets, and Syntrax Matrix. I also like the hot chocolate a lot (I just get the classic flavor and doctor it up with different syrups and flavorings). After surgery I drank a lot of Syntrax Nectar (regular Syntrax Nectar, not the Sweets line) because I wanted something lighter and tarter than the standard Protein powders you mix with milk. Good luck to you!

Thanks everyone! It's not the taste I mind so much, it's that I'm having a hard time fitting them in. I'm supposed to e drinking two 8 oz shakes a day. I drink 2-3 oz and I'm stuffed! I'm 11 days out so still on a modified liquid diet (meaning I can have cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and applesauce). I guess I need to space them out over the day more.

If they are a thicker shake try thinning them out a little more. I make my shakes homemade and they are good for 2 meals. It is about 45g of Protein. I use about 3-4oz skim milk, about 1/2c nonfat plain greek yogurt, a scoop of whey protein (i use Body Fortress), and frozen berries so its more like and ice cream shake. About 1/2 berries. My goto is about 3 frozen strawberries and half a small banana. I use my bullet to quick mix and it is yummy. Greek yogurt is a staple in my diet. Very high in protein. Plain is also a good substitute for sour cream and makes a good veggie dip when mixed with ranch. U can get ur protein in without shakes. There is a product out there called Health Wise and they are high protein low calories meals and Snacks. I use their hot cocoa which is 15g of protein and 90 cal. They have all kinds of foods. Its what i had to use for my pre op diet and even now i still use some of the products. 4 meals a day at 15g each will get u your minimum intake. It gets easier as you get further. I am almost 5 months post and still do a shake about 3 times a week. I am down 92lbs to date so it works. I current shoot for 80-100g myself and exercise 5 days a week. You can do it! Keep up the good work. Its early for you so give it some time.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
