Is it normal to feel anxiety as a result of this journey. I am 5 days post op and have started feeling increasingly anxious. I am still adjusting to my diet but have been doing ok. I also have a family who is very supportive...so my question is, has anyone else experienced this. I would appreciate any feedback

I have been feeling a little anxious myself. I am also 5 days post opp. I have been experiencing allot of painful bloating followed by diarrhea. I'm feeling weak as a result. I'm trying hard to keep up with the fluids today but it's been tough. Any feedback and encouragement would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I'll be 5 weeks out this Monday. The first week was the worse for me. I think the anxiety is partly from the anesthesia. Don't let it mess with your head. It helps to keep your mind and body active do just walk around the block when you feel that way. Put your ear buds in and just go. The devils playground is our boredom. Stay busy! Body, soul, and mind. Things get better. Just give it a little more time. You are not alone in this. Take care :-)

My Dr said to just concentrate on your Water intake at first and gradually move to your Protein shake. You're still healing inside. Everything is swollen and in shock. Just give it a little more time. Until then keep on sipping!

It is a huge adjustment for your body and there will be some anxiety the first week. I know I had problems getting fluids down and had to go in for IV therapy 2 days. I was uncomfortable and just plain out mad. I kept thinking I made a huge mistake and that this was the worst. I'm a month out and finally starting to eat real food again and I have to say I am much more optimistic now. Part of my personal problem was I had diabetes and high blood sugar and the shock from the surgery and diet changed my sugars and kept dropping. My doc took me off all my meds and I am controlled now with the weight I've lost and diet. Hang in there! It is so worth it!

Hang in there. I'm four months post op and doing much better. My first month was very rough mentally and physically. My surgeon and OBGYN have both told me that your body gets off track hormonally from this surgery from the shock and rapid weight reduction. There is light at the end of the tunnel. There is a lot to process and learn to eat properly on top of all the physical changes. Each week will get better and better. I did have the doc prescribe Ativan for me and that really helped calm me down and relax. It got me to sleep a good nights rest and heal.

And yes this site is amazing. It was a fabulous tool for me for my first two months. Keep your chin up and know that you will eat and drink normally again. Just smaller amounts. There were days where I wondered WTF did I do to myself..?? But those thoughts quickly passed and are normal. Keep focus on why you did it and you will do great.

Thank you all for the feedback. I was really starting to get worried( still a little). I guess it's also been difficult because I never take so much time off work and just sit at home . I have a pretty busy life with my son and a huge family, so to see them run around going on with their life is difficult. I know it will ALL be worth it in the end. I'm going to a Mother's Day brunch with my husbands family today and they don't know I've had WLS so I'm kind of worried as to how I'm getting through this ! I can't eat any of the Bagels lox n stuff they will be having. Omg wish me luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
