What does slider food mean?

Essentially a food that does not make you feel full is a slider. Typically it is junk food like chips, but it can also be other foods depending on individual. For me, a slider would be popcorn. Since I know I would eat too much of it, I choose not to eat it. Even Protein Bars can be a slider. A non slider usually is dense Protein like chicken or beef.

From what I understand (and I am NOT someone with a science background), the valve between the stomach and the intestines only opens under certain conditions. Specifically when the food in the stomach has been digested to an appropriate slushy consistency.

Yogurt, ice cream, liquids, Soup etc do not cause the valve to close for very long, and the stomach empties quicker. A dense Protein sits at the valve for a long time (unless you add liquid to move the process along). Because it's there for a long time, you feel fuller for much longer. Also, many simple starches are digested quickly as well (though not as quick as a soft, liquidy food),

I like MelBooks science. In "Miss Mac speak", a slider food is a gateway food to overeating even though I know better. For me it's anything with a potato in it.
