Hey guys! I am 4 days post op and as of last night I've been having g really bad chest pains. My hearts (or what seems to be my heart) feels very crampy and my collar bone as well. I thought I was starting to feel better until that happened. Started around 2am and hasn't stopped. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it the gas? I'm a little worried to be honest

Hi Shantel, I had surgery on Monday. I felt the same way you did. Today's the first day I'm feeling better. Stay hopeful and take your pain meds. I really think that's what helped me. It relaxed my body so much.

Well, that is something I haven't been doing... not since Wednesday. Guess I will try taking some and see if that helps.

I am also a 5/6 bandit (ha!) and today is the first day I feel good. I'm experiencing some discomfort on my far left side that comes and goes. I just assume it is part of it. I have been off pain Meds for 2 days now. Gas pain is the worst. Gasx strips helped me the most, as did walking around very slowly.

Gasx strips didn't help me, because the chest pain gas wasn't in my gastrointestinal system but from the surgery. Walking plus a heat pad helped the most. Every now and then is have my husband give me a few swift but not too hard karate chops to the back and it helped.

Thanks everyone. I was feeling pretty bloated all day today. Decided to get on the elliptical for a few minutes, and go over a few bumps in the road when I was driving lol. Actually helped. I feel much better now! Good luck everyone

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
