sophie'sChoice 269 Posted May 9, 2014 Never thought to ask this when I went for my last follow up and honestly I'm a little embarrassed to call up the team to ask this question so I thought I would poll the troops here until I go for my next followup and can add it to our conversation. Here goes: if your meal is a liquid, like Premier Protein drink, do you still have to wait an hour afterwards before drinking anything else? ( my surgeon requires not drinking for an hour after eating but I know others are different). 1 BigGirlPanties reacted to this
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted May 9, 2014 Yes still wait an hour after drinking Protein Shakes. Even though it is a liquid it still helps with satiety and your body does take longer to digest it. This is the rule I always followed and it has always worked for me. 2 elfnow and Imanurse reacted to this
happygirlforlife 34 Posted May 9, 2014 My doctor has me wait a half hour.
sophie'sChoice 269 Posted May 9, 2014 Thanks! I will continue to wait the hour. Because it's so thin it moves through my pouch quickly but I worried that if I drank something after, it would keep me from absorbing all the Protein. 1 LilMissDiva Irene reacted to this
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted May 9, 2014 I don't think it will affect absorption of Protein, it just washes all the Fluid out quicker. Good luck You're doing really good!
EarthyGoalie 253 Posted May 11, 2014 Not a stupid question at all! I asked my doctor the same thing! It has to do with staying full longer, so yes, I still wait.
sophie'sChoice 269 Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks everyone for your replies! I think I was hoping to be able to "wash" the taste out of my mouth. I'm not a big fan of Protein shakes and they leave a bad taste. So, now I just chew a piece of gum for a minute and poof! problem solved! :-) 1 EarthyGoalie reacted to this

If accidentally swallowed it needs to be surgically removed. I take a sip after eating, just to rinse my mouth.
