Crisco and stick butter.....

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if anyone else figured their weight loss in a funny way? For instance.....I've lost 44 pounds since January......that is equivalent to 14.5 cans of Crisco shortening OR 176 sticks of butter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought of mine in terms of a large 50lbs bag of dog food.

1 and 1/2 of those huge bags...

I was shopping at the time and thought "damn!"

Dog food sounds good! I have a big dog, and we get the 50lb bags, I can't even carry them!! I have to get fiance to empty them into a tub for me so I can scopp it out. If I lose 3 of those dog food bags.. wowser.

I read somewhere that a lb of fat is the same volumn as a pound of butter, so I kind of imagine how much butter I've lost, lol. Sacks of potatoes, or cat food, as well.

Velveeta cheese. It looks and feels like fat. I have lost 30 large boxes of Velveeta cheese.< /div>

Love the Velveeta cheese idea....maybe it will make me not like it so much if I can think of it as fat instead of creamy cheese!!!!

Wouldn't it be great if we could pour the fat out like dog food!!

You know, I've never been a big fan of Velveeta cheese. I don't like or dislike it. But I bought a box when I started losing weight just so when I start getting frustrated I can hold it and imagine how many of them I have lost. Potatoes don't do it for me. I'm not that kind of lumpy. :) I buy little bags of dog food since only one of my dogs will eat dog food and he weighs 3 lbs. But the cheese, it looks and feels like fat. I'm -30 large boxes now. For some reason it just really hits home with me.

What kind of dog do you have that weighs 3#?? We have two yorkies 5# and 8#. Sure am glad I can still pick them up after surgery!!

That means I've lost 22 boxes of Velveeta! I'm loving this.....your dog is 1.5 boxes of cheese, mine is 45 boxes of Velveeta!! Misty is a 90 pound black lab....sounds like we feed her a lot but we live on a farm, she's always finding something to chow down on!

Can you imagine stacking up 22 boxes of Velveeta, 176 sticks of butter or 4 bags of potatoes and carrying them around all day? No wonder my knees and feet are feeling better!

We're in the middle of a cold spell....it's rained all day and is ending up with big fat flakes of snow. Will have to wait till things dry up a bit and I'll try to get a good picture. Then the trick will be to figure out how to get it in the e-mail...it's about time I put a ticker and my info. in anyway!

I'm loving this....have went all around the kitchen/house trying to figure everything into lost weight. So far none of my new ideas have been better than the ones already mentioned!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
