Yes, i was told the same thing by the patient advocate who came to visit me in the hospital, but other than that I haven't seen or heard much about this issue.

I just got banded on Wednesday and although I'm not depressed, I have noticed that my mood has taken a turn for the worst. It's hard being dependent on people and it's hard feeling sore and tired. Keep in mind, the band is not a panacea. I was on meds for depression before the band and will be on meds after the band. It runs in my family. I think it's pretty normal to have a wtf moment post-banding. That's when you just have to get on the Before and After Pics thread and set goals for yourself. I'm going for a walk today and taking my meds for the first time since Tuesday. Being afraid of being depressed or a little sad isn't a big reason to not get the band. I came to the realization that I would be even more depressed if I didn't have the band. The band gives you faith that you can be successful this time... And if depression is a mild side affect for hope in my life... Well I'll take the blues.

I had my depression fixed prior to banding. I haven't had any problems with depression since being banded. No mood swings. Julie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
