SnohoGal98296 371 Posted May 8, 2014 Just wanted to share a new article on a possible additional benfit of WLS... http://healthyliving.msn.com/diseases/heart-and-cardiovascular/weight-loss-surgery-may-help-prevent-heart-rhythm-disorder-1 3 Lakish Rivera, Recycled and BeagleLover reacted to this
Teachamy 1,042 Posted May 8, 2014 "The message here is that getting the weight off can have a powerful reversal effect on atrial fibrillation," Day said. "Atrial fibrillation is a reversible condition, it's not set in stone. This is a message of hope for so many patients suffering from it." I hope so! I've had 2 medical procedures called cardioversions (they zapped my heart back into a regular pattern of beats). Not difficult procedures, but being in AFib is no fun! (And it delayed my surgery for 5 months!) I hope it is gone for good now that I am no longer obese! Thanks so much for sharing! 1 Lakish Rivera reacted to this
Recycled 2,182 Posted May 8, 2014 Thanks for this article. I am going to bring this up with my cardiologists when I reach my goal. Hopefully it has made a difference with me and I can drop a few of the meds I'm taking. 1 Teachamy reacted to this
Teachamy 1,042 Posted May 8, 2014 Oh the meds! Ugh! I take diltiazem to slow my heart rate and I have CRAZY dreams as a side effect. Can't wait to get off that stuff. (Or maybe he will lower the dose at least?) 1 Recycled reacted to this
scootergirl 118 Posted May 13, 2014 Drat. I wish I had my sleeve one year earlier. I got my first bout of a-fib 8 months before my surgery.
Teachamy 1,042 Posted May 13, 2014 My first detection of AFib was 1 week before my scheduled surgery, which has to be delayed 5 months. Total bummer. At any rate, as of today I AM OFF DILTIAZEM!!!!!! WAHOOO!
