Sleeved May 5th, I get up about every 3 hours to walk (and sip water). Anyone else do this? I'm thinking the walking can only help....

Awesome start! For me the second week was the worst. I was so so hungry. I layer in bed way too much. Walking in beginning is a good habit to start for sure. Good luck!

I've been getting up every 4 hours to take my pain medication, unless I'm sleeping. Funny thing is, the only time I really have had any pain is while I'm actually getting up. My incisions on the right side, especially where my drain was, are a little tender.. but otherwise, no problems. Once I'm up, I do pretty well. I've worn my fitbit since the day of surgery and have managed to get at least 1.5 miles walked in each day. I've done a lot of "shopping" just so I can get out and moving without sweating too much. I haven't done that great on my Water intake though and as a result feel slightly dehydrated. I never realized how much air I swallowed when I drank, but.. yeah, that's definitely a thing now. It's still amazing that I haven't felt hungry or weak or anything like that so far. I'm very thankful that things have gone so smoothly overall.. it definitely makes me excited about the future!

That's a great start to your recovery. Walking will help with gas pains too and it's good to start sipping Water to stay hydrated! Good luck!

May 5th here as well Im awake more then I'm asleep now. But I had some extra stuff they had to fix I had 2 hernias and my intestines were through my abdominal wall. It hurts when I eat Jello or drink sometimes I wonder if that's the gas or I'm just eating/drinking too big if a bite/sip? Any suggestions? My post op appointment isn't until next Friday so nothing but Clear Liquids until then. Can't wait for sone tuna or veggies!

I'm good with clear liquids for now as I'm guessing because of the gas I feel full all the time.

I was sleeved on May 5th as well. Things are getting a little better every day. I have stopped taking my pain med as I didn't feel it was doing much and it was hard to get down. My chest hurts a little when I swallow and I feel very full. As a result, I am not getting all my Water in, but eating a few Popsicles per day and a little broth. Also a little bit of de-caf tea. I am trying to get up every few hours to walk. sleeping is the hardest part for me as I am so uncomfortable in every position I try. I am grateful for not being hungry and losing already. The gassiness and bloating is still there - wonder how long that takes to subside. Good luck and keep up your walking.

I try to walk when I start to feel nausea. The movement really helps move the gas through. I am not able to pinpoint if something I am eating is causing excessive gas or if it's just normal after surgery. Either way it sucks.

I found that eating and drinking while I stand or pace around helps. I am a little leery of taking gas pills since the chemical reaction has to occur and I don't know how it will manifest if no gas is created.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
