Hi i had my lap band placed on May 5th by Dr Fieldings. I have 3 incisions. The largest one being in my belly button. Its been very painful. I don't think its gas as much as the incision itself. Did anyone have the same experience? Its really uncomfortable. Thanks.

Saw your doctor on Dr. Oz last week. Sorry, I'm no help since this new method of going through the belly button is new and I had the usualy 5 big incisions all over my body. Some were uncomfortable for up to 4 weeks but time took care of the pain.

I would imagine there's a lot of activity going through that incision so it's understandable it's painful? And all we can take is Tylenol which is a poor excuse for a pain killer. Hope it feels better?

I also had a belly button incision!!! take a mirror and see if its red and swollen, if so please call your doctor...I had a little pain but not much, but was told by my NP that a little pain was normal, but to watch for those signs and let them know immediately!!! hoping you get to feeling better!!! hope you reply to your message once you get fixed up!!! :)

Congratulations on getting banded. Like TMF I had the five but the port one, largest, definitely took a while to heal. I didn't mind the incisional pain because I was so excited. Ice packs can help -- and of course call the doctor's office immediately if it seems like there could be heat or any indication of infection. That's what they are there for -- they want to hear from you. Hope you feel better today!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
