Excess skin/Hanging skin/Complications with Sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I am new to this site and already love it. I work at an Urgent Care and was approached by a young woman who had this procedure done with amazing results. She told me her skin was very elastic and stretched back for the most part. I was wondering if any of you would like to comment on your situations with any excess skin you may have after surgery. Or any complcations for that matter!

I haven't had any real complications...a bit of a dehydration/nausea thing...but that's over, of course.

With my skin...as with a LOT of us the biggest problem is the ol' bat wings...I have been working with weights without much luck, as of yet. My stomach isn't too bad yet...but I still have a bit to go...and then we shall see :)

With my age, I have a lot of cottage cheese skin on my thighs...but I don't care... I am and feel like a functioning human being again...so the cottage cheese and bat wings are worth it :) :D :P ;)

Well Im over fifty and so happy that I had VSG I've been losing up and down but overall losing slowly. Down 75 lbs in 9 months.

I think I need to stop saying that!! Getting ready for vacation and the dreaded bathing suit....droppy skin between the thighs looks awful and when I lay down with my knees bend as I will on a beach lounger the flab pools down resembling a big bottom vase. Everything is wiggly giggly.

But I have went from a 28/30 to a 18 so the hell with the flab I'm going on a jet ski for the first time to celebrate! I'm headed to a 100pound loss by years end. And I'll put my arm in the air and wave my bat wings like I don't care!

And I will wave my bat wings for you!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
