my nutritionist was all for it and said she would help me through the rough parts with the diet and would be there if/when I needed her. i suppose i am lucky in that regard. i did always wonder if people would say something like "taking the easy way out"... but I decided a long time ago not to let what others think get to me. my decision, my health, and my life. period

Wow. Good for you, telling her like that.

I pretty much tell people the same thing you do about the changes in diet and exercise. I didn't tell everyone I had the surgery though. Family and friends (with instructions not to tell anyone), my boss at the time of surgery (he said he'd take my secret to his grave; how sweet) and the nurses at my office (just in case and they're obligated to not talk about my personal stuff). True the first large amount came off in just a few months, but I've been plateaued for 3 1/2 years since and now just moving again after my last fill. Only 37lbs from my goal. It has not been an easy road. People don't realize that we still have to work at it.

Hang in there!

Heck I find it harder now to lose weight than before surgery so this certainly is not the easy way out.

So true, all of these comments. The trouble is that some people are just pure ignorant! I was trying to explain to someone the other day about how the band works, and he said to me "well it's simple really you just need to eat the right food and much smaller portions just 3 times a day, I can do that!" I could have literally kicked him where it hurt" but I retorted " well you are obviously a rare breed, because there are very few people who can do that, and I for one needed something to help me". Pure ignorance!!!!!!

LOL love the come back answer. In no way shape, form, or fashion is this is. Even in maintenance it is still hard work. Good for you.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
