Today was interesting I have sebo- psoriasis and everything would probably just go away with weight lost.....*ugh*

So I just feel like all we (Me..doctors..patients) do is treat the symptoms of obesity.

I could have psoriatic arthritis and I can't even notice because I'm in pain half the time.

lady M.D.: "Any joint pain"

Me:uhh....

Me:

Me:

Me:kiiinda? yeaaah...

Lady M.D.: *awkward confused face*

Me: I think so...but..they usually hurt..so..the pain..is kinda..like..normal

My joint pain...could very well be the fact that I way 300 pounds I'm 17 and not inflimation that is hand in hand with psoriasis. Who knows. I don't.

It's like just fix the weight.

just drop the 100 pounds... and every medical thing will be magically gone!

*sigh* thanks for sitting through that

@@ck3kgirl, I hear ya. It's largely true. I lost a great deal of weight a age 28 and my blood pressure went back to normal, my knees stopped hurting, and my sleeping difficulties disappeared. Then I gained it all back and got older and developed arthritis, high cholesterol, stomach irritation from daily NSAIDs for the arthritis, Constipation from pain meds, and sleep problems from the weight. My greatest wish is to be healthy again, and I know the weight loss will solve most, if not all, of these ailments. I commend you for recognizing this at a young age. You'll be healthy in your twenties. It was a lost decade for me. But in my fifties? Kickin' @$$ and takin' names!

I so wish I was able to do this early ... you have a great deal to "win" by getting this taken care of while you are still young... your skin is more elastic for one and you will have a much healthier, longer, and I believe, happier life.

Good luck to you on your decision.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
