copywronger 1 Posted April 12, 2007 Hey all So, I've had a couple bouts of nausea since getting out of the hospital on Monday. Tuesday nite, I was woken from sleep because I needed to throw up...but there was nothing to throw up. Very painful. Right now, I'm feeling similarly, but not at the throwing-up stage.. yet. Just... really nauseous and tired. Afraid to drink or do anything... don't want to activate it. Can't tell if I'm drinking too many liquids or maybe it's the vicodin? Sigh. Syrah 0 Posted April 13, 2007 It's not clear from your post but are you drinking enough fluids? I dumped the vicodin after about 36 hours. It just made me loopy and spacey. Can you go without it, and see if you feel any better?
lisalee 0 Posted April 13, 2007 I drank only Water the first 24 hours but took my Lorcet (like Vicodin) like clockwork. After suddenly getting nausea I quit taking the Lorcet and never had any nausea or vomiting after that. Vicodin can cause nausea....if it persists after you quit taking it call your doctor. Don't quit drinking water...you really need it. Good luck!
areellady 1 Posted April 13, 2007 Call your doctor and see if they can prescribe something for the nausea so you dont throw up. I know my doctor told me they are going to be sending me home with suppositories so I dont throw up.

hotpink_bubbles 0 Posted April 13, 2007 Vicodin is absolutely horrible at causing nausea. Ditch the Vicodin. Go for some liquid extra strength tylenol, knocks you out and works well, and will NOT cause nausea. I was taking Vicodin ES every 4 hours i think it was, I was so so so so so sick from that. It was horrible. Ditch em and i guarntee you will feel so much better in 48 hours. Good Luck. ~Hotpink~
juliegeraci 7 Posted April 13, 2007 I would call your doctor and ask for an anti nauseau medication. Its like a cough Syrup. I had that and it really helped. Julie
copywronger 1 Posted April 13, 2007 Thanks for all the help, you guys! Definitely feeling better today. Actually sitting in a chair! It's taken me a little longer than I expected to get over the pain. May switch to Advil at this point.
Syrah 0 Posted April 13, 2007 I looove Advil, but I waited at least 10 days to take it. It can be hard on a stomach, especially after surgery. Liquid tylenol works pretty well (Walgreen's). I also recommend a heating pad. Good luck!
copywronger 1 Posted April 13, 2007 Actually, my NP suggested liquid Motrin. Anyone try that?
