How do u know if your new pouch is stretched?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on April 30. For some reason I am not hungry. I have been trying to get at least the Water in. On yesterday I ate 2 chicken mc nuggets and I chewed and chewed and chewed because it was the closet thing I could get to Protein. I pray that I have not messed up because I really wNt this to work. Under the circumstances that was the only thing I could get in because of other issues I'm dealing with. Today I'm doing much better back at home and not so stressed. I was able to get a Protein Drink in and so far that is all. No criticisms please I already feel horrible.

Thinmints - first of all I love your name and boy I miss thin mints. Second, it's ok you ate mcnuggets and moving forward I would stick to the diet and have your Protein Shakes and liquid diet. Drink water and diet drinks and no carbonation. You did not stretch your pouch but to prevent it from having it in the long run follow what your doc says. I had my surgery on march 31 and left the hospital on April 3. So I started my liquid diet the minute I walked out of the hospital and stayed on it until April 13. liquids were hard to get it down but I made sure I did what the doc said and had my chewable vitamins. Also with hunger it's common not to feel hungry and I still feel that way. I am not hungry much and my taste buds have also changed. Anyways mistakes happen and now stick to what the doc says. Best of luck!

Thanks RNBSN786...I'm back on the right trail now. Though it's still hard for me to get 32 ounces in I'm going to put my best foot forward. Thanks for the encouragement and best of luck to u!

I'm worried about this I had the sleeve March 3rd and it seems like I've been able to eat more than I used too. I haven't been perfect, I've overeaten and cheated with some carbonated drinks. But it hasn't been everyday, not even once a week. I just feel like 2 months surgerversity isn't long enough to stretch my pouch.

Lol I feel like if you let it sit in your mouth for a bit and let it lose the carbonation it's not too bad

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
