Huge NSV at an amusement park

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I wanted to share a huge NSV for me today. I spent the day with my 14 year old son at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We had a wonderful time. I was able to ride on all the rides with him. This has been a long journey for me. I'm down 78 lbs from my high 2 years ago. And while I was just banded last June and I'm down 52 lbs I really would like to lose another 50 this year. Its been really hard on me and I just pray I can continue to grow in this journey. I started to exercise again this week in the hopes of continuing to lose the weight. I know how you all feel when I tell you how much it means to me to no longer use a seat belt extender, walk 2 on a treadmill or not be able to ride an amusement park ride. I can honestly say I am happy to report I can do all 3 now.

Julie

Way to go

Pat yourself of the back because we all know how hard even with the band it is. Some people think just because your banded the weight just falls off by itself. I'm so proud of you and for you and just think what memories you made.

Rene, yes the Big Dipper was the second ride we went on. I have to tell you. I was nervous going into each ride thinking I wouldn't fit but I did! Julie

I'm still not banded, hopfully 4/20. But this is one of the reasons I want to git fit. I have a 8 yr old son and 3 yr old Girl. And the last time Me and My wife went to an amusment park. I was way bigger than the last time, and could not ride some of the rides. I was so sad for my 8 yr old he had to ride by himself. And I wanted to hide. Oh the shame.

What a great NSV! I've been dying to go to the Lagoon Amusement Park but the rides always have this "If you weight too much your butt gets booted of in front of everyone" sign.. ok that's my wording but theirs has the same meaning. I can't wait til I can go on the rides!

396power, that is fantastic news. What are your stats? How much do you want to lose? I'm considered an average loser at 1 lb a week. It really adds up though. I'm happy with my 52 lbs in 10 months. I'll take it. Best of luck. Julie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
