Hello,

I am constantly tired. I have no energy. I am drikning as much as I can (Water, protien shakes, etc..) and I am trying to eat soft foods...little to no success there. I am getting 400-800 calories a day. I do not have any surgery related pain to speak of. I am just completely fatigued all day every day. Does anyone else have this issue or any advise for me to get over this hump?

Stats:

Surgery Date: 04/17/2014 (19 days ago)

Starting Weight : 287
Weight on day of surgery : 271 lbs
Current Weight : 248 lbs
Weight Lost since beginning : 39 lbs
Weight Lost After Surgery : 23 lbs

Being tired all the time is normally a sign that you aren't getting enough Protein. Try to eat food that are higher in Protein or may be add an extra Protein shake.

Good Luck!

Debi,

how many grams of Protein do you suggest ...I am trying for 70g a day. How much more do you think I need to shoot for 100?

As a follow up:

I called my Dr office. They suggested that i increase Protein to 90 - 100g.

We will see!

I'm tired a lot and hadn't attributed to not enough Protein. I'm going on 7 months now thought I was just being lazy. There are days I'm good but most of the time tired. My labs are good. Thank you for asking / mentioning and thanks for the responses . I have learned a lot and all of you are so helpful.

Matt,

Get the Protein in first. Then get you butt moving. If walking is all you can do at this point....then walk. Alot !! Then maybe sign up for a gym and start some weight training. You've got to get that lethargic body moving. The exercise will stimulate the metabolism and increase weight loss. And it will invigorate you with more energy. It's a win-win. ;)

As an added note.....some research has indicated that it can take a few months to completely clear the body of the anesthesia used during surgery. That can account for some of your tiredness.

Recycled,

Thanks for your input. I am a tennis pro. i am on my feet running/jogging/walking all day. My concern ultimately was am i getting enough calories/protein to support myself and my daily activities. I can pull about 2 miles on the treadmill but I am exausted - really exausted- after. At my heaviest of 290 I could still do 4+ miles. After speaking with my dr I am gonna boost my Protein and Vitamin intake and hopefully thats gonna help me stabilize. thanks agian!

Matt.....if you are actually moving that much at your starting weight......that would certainly account for being tired. My guess is you're gonna be alot better tennis pro when you get the bulk of that weight off. Keep in mind.....cardiac is not the whole picture. Cardiac burns for only a short time after while muscle will continue to burn and burn more. Keep it up... the energy will return soon. ;)

I'm really not sure, I would start with adding another 5g for a few days and see how that does and after 3-5 days I would add 5 more, but that is just the way I do things.

Start walking, you will feel better. It is hard at first but work it into your schedule.

Make sure you are sleeping well

AND

Get that Protein in.

Check your blood work

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
