I'm soooooo tight

Recommended Posts

Okay,

I know it's not the best thing in the world but I complained about slowed up weight loss got .3 fill last week and God, about all I can do is drink but I can get my liquids down. Late in the evening I can sometimes get a little bit of food down. I'm not going to rush and get an unfill as it's took 7 fills to get here 11 hour drive for fills and thousands and thousands of dollars. Anyone have any good ideas of foods that will go down when your very tight.

I have a good idea..have.1 of the .3 removed. You will be amazed at the difference as little as .1 or .2 will make still leaving you enough restriction to eat solids like and lose weight Do not be foolish, too tight can lead to many dangerous things. You want your band to last as long as possible don't you? Who is your doctor? I know if I told my doctor I could only get down liquids he would demand I come in for a slight unfill. Is weght loss so important to you that you would risk your health and your band? The band was designed to be able to eat solids and if you can't then you are too tight PERIOD! Inamed and your Dr. would agree to this I am sure. Do not mean to sound harsh but I have been living without my band due to erosion and I was the perfect bandster...never did I get to the point where my band was so tight I could barely get food down. I lost over 100 lbs and have maintained for 1.5 years now. Do not be foolish..too tight you can slip your band, you can get reflux and if you do then you will be forced to unfill your band completely for a period of time. If you pB often because you are too tight you can rsik your band slipping...I hope others here some of the old timers here with lots of experience chime in and tell you the same thing Iam telling you. You are blessed with a great tool ( the band) use it wisely, this is not a race to lose the weight is is a journey, a lifestyle change. The band does not do all of the work, yoiu must work with your band. Good Luck, I hope you make the wise decision.

I think it is okay to wait a wee bit before going in for an un-fill; my doc told me that we are swollen and tight after a fill - it's normal. I was really, super tight my last fill (could do liquids only), but after a week or so, I started to gradually loosen up. Now, I feel pretty perfect (took about a month). I only eat about 1/2 teacup of food at each meal and I'm full, but that's what the doc said would be my life - just enough to sustain. I can eat anything (thus far) in very small amounts.

In answer to your question, I ate alot of healthy Soups during this "liquid" time; cream of broccoli, etc. Any kind of Soup with veggies and even meat in it can be put in the blender and eaten. You could also try a Protein shake in the morning with Vitamins blended in - I did!

Cheers!

Kat.

I swell for a whole week after a fill, I never know how the restrictin is really gonna be till then. My last one I couldn't eat solids for days, but by the end of the first week I was on soft solids and a few days later full on solids. If you can get down Water and protien shakes then you should be fine for up to a week of that. Any longer and I say go for an unfill, even if it is a tiny one. Remember an unfill is cheaper than a revision surgery to fix a slipped band.

The theory is that most slips and erosions are caused by keeping a too tight band. I would never keep it so tight that I could not get solid foods down after the initial 3-4 days post fill. That is dangerous territory!

Hi. Got my first fill on Tuesday. Thanks for letting me know that I might be tight for as much as a week after! I was getting some mushies down OK, but I took my pills and about vomited each time, including this AM. I guess it will be crush city for the pills then. Glad I read this thread!

I have noticed that now that i am halfway filled 2.0 cc in a 4cc band that i can only have liquids in the morning and for a good part of the afternoon, By evening i can eat small amts. I like it this way and have been loosing steadily but be careful with all liquids. If you think your too tight maybe they should take out .02

When I am that tight, usually a week or two after a fill, I drink Slim Fast shakes or Atkin's shakes for Breakfast and lunch, and whatever I cook for the family for dinner, tiny portions. I inevitebly loosen up after 2 weeks or so.

If you don't loosen up then go get a slight unfill, but if you are anything like me, it will loosen up.

I am always astonished when I come across threads like this. Why on earth would you WANT your band to be so tight you can't eat solid food? I would be terrified that I was setting myself up for a slip or erosion.

Just my opinion.

Oh,

I didn't want to be like this, it just happened. Thanks for all of your wonderful advice. I'm going to make the 10 hour drive tomorrow for a slight unfill. It hasn't loosened up any. Thanks again everyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
