You are correct. They are some great folks up there. It seems odd but it's probably because they are a BlueCross/BlueShield Center of Excellence they are required to have very standard operating procedures which may include prescribing everyone the same pre-op BA shakes. You're in good hands.

My doctor is a center of excellence as well and doesn't use/recommend/prescribe a certain brand. He also doesn't require a pre op diet of all patients. So it's not that.

ITA w Recycled. They probably make some money, the same as with other prescriptions.

Another thought- if it's prescribed, maybe insurance covers it? IDK.
